In the world of actresses and models, it is not uncommon to encounter someone named Lily: Lily Collins, Lily Aldridge, even the often misspelled Evangeline Lilly, the list goes on. But Lily James is the only one with the British accent and the hot pictorial for Burberry.
She played Lady Rose MacClare in Downton Abbey, which was a period piece – if you’ve seen her in it, you might wonder if ladies always that sexy?
And if you’ve seen her in the live-action production of Cinderella, you have to ask, did Cinderella ever go horseback-riding in the original story? Didn’t she ride in a chariot shaped like a pumpkin? I actually don’t really know… I’m not up on my Cinderella. It was reported that Lily James performed the horseback-riding herself, as well as other stunts, at her own request.
So, what else has Lily James done of note, and what else is she planning to do? The 27-year old has been part of theater productions. Remember the Booker Prize Award-winning and wonderfully, bawdily insane novel, Vernon God Little? Lily James performed in the theatrical version as Taylor, the teen who betrays the main protagonist by pretending to have a fixation on a killer.
Zombie-killer is another role that Lily James has filled, being Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. That’s her in the poster, front and center, wearing blue and holding a weapon: looked damn good, too, unfortunately the film, based on the New York Times bestselling parody novel, did not do so well at the box office.
People – including Al Pacino –have said through the years that the stage is so exciting. Perhaps that’s the reason why Lily James has stated that she wants to do more theater. Given that theater is less accessible than readily available TV series and films (there are always DVDs, right?), will this pose a problem for fans?
There are always magazines, where Lily James has not exactly been a stranger. Teen Vogue featured her as “Girl of The Moment” in 2015 while Maxim included a serious-looking Lily in its Hot 100 the same year.
Whatever she decides, Lily James has built a niche in the world of actresses and models, and she has made a place among the numerous hot women named Lily.
