Amanda Seyfried is really loved by people around the world. She can sing, dance, and act. She’s not only extremely talented, but also an interesting person. She was A child model before landing in to acting, appearing in print ads with Leighton Meesterand. Now, she’s a Hollywood A-lister.
She was born on the 3rd of December 1985 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to parents Jack and Ann. Her father was a pharmacist and her mother an occupational therapist. Amanda has one older sister Jennifer who is a musician and a veterinary technician. The actress said in the past that her childhood was pretty normal. “My childhood was pretty normal. I lived with my parents, who are still together, and my sister. We were a very balanced suburban family. I played sports, I sang and I played piano. I got to do what I wanted to do. I got good grades at school and had lots of friends,” she told Elle Canada.
Let’s get to know this beautiful actress better with the things below that most people don’t know about her.
She Started Modeling At Age 11
At first, Amanda wanted to gain fame with her beauty. She started modeling in 1996 when she was 11, and appeared in print ads for clothing brands and on three covers of Sweet Valley High books. By the time she was 15, she had turned her talent to acting and took on a few roles. She did not gain immediate success in acting. She was even fired from her role of Lucy Montgometry in As The World Turns.
According to the actress, it was because she wasn’t very good. “I’ll be honest, I was pretty bad starting out. When I was 15, I was on As the World Turns, and I was so bad they had to ship my character off. It was absolutely, without a doubt, because I was that bad. I was so uncomfortable. I had it in me, but if you aren’t comfortable, you can’t access your skill. I was devastated. You always think it’s the end of the world. I remember crying on the pier near my house on the Hudson River,” she once spoke with BackStage.
The actress still pursued acting. She landed on several acting roles and her breakthrough came when she took the role of Karen Smith in Mean Girls in 2003. The film was a box office hit and the actress even became more popular after starring on musical movie Mama Mia.
She Has Taxidermy Collection
Amanda has a taxidermy collection. Taxidermy is the preserving of an animal’s body via mounting or stuffing, for the purpose of study or display. The actress considers it art. She buys dead animals that have been preserved or stuffed.
“When taxidermy is done well it’s an amazing piece of art,” she shared on The Jonathan Ross Show.
“I love animals and they’re very easy to look after when they’re dead. I recently decided I was going to start building a parliament of owls because I only have one. But I have a horse, a miniature horse, it’s a baby. It’s quite small, it’s much bigger than my dog. His name is Antoine.”
She Was Too Fat To Get Acting Roles
Amanda revealed that she had been passed on for roles because she was considered “overweight.” The actress tweeted in the past saying, “Fun fact: I almost lost out on several roles in my career because I was overweight. Wrong, America.”
The actress said that she had to stay in shape. She worked on it by running and working out.
“If I didn’t run and work out, there’s no way I would be this thin,” she told Glamour magazine in the past. “But I have to stay in shape because I’m an actress. It’s f–ked up and it’s twisted, but I wouldn’t get the roles otherwise. If I’d been a bit bigger, I don’t think they would have cast me for Mamma Mia!”
Many of us have seen her movies and we do not have a recollection of Amanda being fat. She’s beautifully gorgeous.
She Has Been Diagnosed With OCD
Amanda got candid about her experience with obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD.
“It should be taken as seriously as anything else,” actress said in the October 2016 issue of Allure. “You don’t see the mental illness: It’s not a mass; it’s not a cyst. But it’s there. Why do you need to prove it? If you can treat it, you treat it.”
For most cases—symptoms of OCD first manifest in the form of anxiety.
“I had pretty bad health anxiety that came from the OCD and thought I had a tumor in my brain,” she told Allure in their October 2016 issue. “I had an MRI, and the neurologist referred me to a psychiatrist,” she continued. “As I get older, the compulsive thoughts and fears have diminished a lot. Knowing that a lot of my fears are not reality-based really helps.” After receiving the diagnosis, she was put on Lexapro, something she plans to stay on indefinitely. “I’ve been on it since I was 19, so 11 years. I’m on the lowest dose. I don’t see the point of getting off of it. Whether it’s placebo or not, I don’t want to risk it,” she said.
She Was Told To Get Botox
Despite being one of the most pretty faces in Hollywood and having flawless skin, Amanda revealed she has already been advised to have Botox by Hollywood executives.
“I was like, damn you!” Amanda told Elle of her reaction to the advice.
“But we’re in Hollywood. I’m on a huge screen. With these new digital cameras you can see the peach fuzz on my face.” Woah! The actress was just 25 when she received the advice.
Luckily, the self-assured Amanda refused to get the treatment, a wise move considering how young she is! And yes, she’s already gorgeous and striking. We adore this gal.
“I like the freedom of being exactly who I am. And that’s gotten me into trouble,” Amanda said.
She’s Married To Thomas Sadoski.
Amanda is married to Thomas Sadoski. Her husband is an American stage, film, and television actor. He is best known for his roles as Matt Short in the sitcom television series Life in Pieces and as Don Keefer in the HBO series The Newsroom.. The pair met in 2015 while starring in the play The Way We Get By.
The actress told PorterEdit that they “were both in bad relationships” at the time, and Thomas was, actually, married.
“[He] never flirted, never disrespected his wife,” she said. “That was another reason why I thought, later on, that I could marry him.”
The actress shared to Porter magazine about their low-key wedding, and why she decided to tie the knot while she was very pregnant.
“We got married in Topanga, March last year. Just the two of us. And afterwards, I was like, ‘Can we just go to Cheebo?’” Seyfried recalled to ET, referring to a neighborhood cafe in Los Angeles, California, where the two has frequented in the past. “It was awesome.”
Trump’s Election Somehow Inspired Her To Get Married
‘It was one of those things where Trump had gotten elected, the world was going mad, and I was like, “This is a dream I might never wake up from. If that’s the case, let’s just get married,” she revealed to Elle in the magazine’s July 2018 cover.
She Enjoys Motherhood A Lot
Amanda and husband Thomas welcomed their first child together, a daughter, in March 2017. The couple announced they were expecting just two months after they got engaged in September, and got married by eloping in March 2017.
She said to Elle, ‘Things are better now I’m older, rather than as a teenager, when I was treated terribly: “Oh, you’re in your 30s now? I guess I can trust your opinion, or trust you’ll show up to work on time,” even though I’ve never, ever been late, even as a 15-year-old. But I feel like now I have a kid, it just goes without saying that I’m responsible… I learned after having a child: not to take things so personally, because it’s such a waste of time.’
She’s Knitting Her Own Sweaters
Amanda is seriously packed with many talents. Aside from dancing, singing, and acting, she’s also knitting and crocheting. Impressive hobby isn’t it? This star knits her own sweaters. More often, she does it for her pet pooches. She knits even when she walks her dog. She considers knitting as her mental therapy.
She Focuses On Fitness For Both Her Physical And Mental Health
For Amanda, she does not only focus on her physical health, but for her mental wellbeing too. She said that she exercises to promote positive vibes.
She recently opened up with BestFit Magazine, “It’s just something I crave,” she continues. “It’s the release of stress that I have to feel so that I can get on with the other things, and if I didn’t have exercise, I would definitely be a very different person.”
“As for the exercise I do, that’s really down to how I feel and, like everyone else on the planet, how much time I’ve got. So that could be using a skipping rope, a bike, a running machine… anything. And when I’m in the zone, I’m in it… which makes up for the times when I’m not, because that really sucks.”
With a very successful career in Hollywood, many people would think that she didn’t have a care in the world. But as we all know, she has been struggling with her anxiety. Fortunately, she got a very supportive friends and family.
“I finally saw that I needed to address my anxiety and stage fright more directly, and that’s been the best thing I could have done for myself. I’m able to enjoy my life much more now although I still worry about things that I shouldn’t worry about. But I also have good friends and a great family who give me a lot of love and support.”
Amanda is now able to manage her stress and worries by putting wellbeing and fitness into her life. She runs for an hour five times a week, works out in a gym three times a week with a celebrity trainer, Harley Pastenark, and does one to two sessions of Pilates on weekends.
This combination of strength training, cardio, and muscle lengthening is Amanda’s ingredients to her toned and strong shape. While running is greatly beneficial for mental wellbeing, the actress said to BestFit that her extreme sessions with her gym trainer motivate her the most.
“Having a good trainer, or any trainer, is really that extra motivation, and that’s so vital. Harley has been brilliant for me because he provides the plan, the variation and the technical advice, but more than that it’s an appointment that can’t be missed, and being regimented about fitness, for me, is the only way to stay there.”
Now we do not wonder anymore how she stays in such great shape!
She Maintains A Good Balanced Diet Plan
Amanda’s diet plan has her eating between four or five balanced meals per day. Her diet focuses around getting lots of vegetables, fruits and healthy foods, with some good lean protein. In the morning, she likes to eat a lot of her food raw such as a raw smoothie, fresh fruits or a green juice. But the actress admitted that a full raw diet was too much to handle so she prefers a more substantial meal in the afternoon.
“I tried it and it just took too much out of me,” she told BestFit. “I would be hungry and tired by mid-afternoon – there just wasn’t enough to see me through. Kale, cucumber, oatmeal, blueberries, seeds, salads, shakes… these are all great, but they just couldn’t sustain me over 24 hours.”
Amanda’s overall fitness is not only about doing physical exercises and having a good diet plan. She also does another wellness recipe. That is, meditation.
“It’s a newer thing for me and I love it – I’m high anxiety so the opportunity to relax my brain as well as motivate my body is a perfect combination. I look at how I was treating myself 10 years ago, even five years ago, and I’m in so much a better place.
“Just step back, reassess, and look after yourself.”
