Who is Shanna Moakler?
Shanna is an American actress, model, and beauty pageant titleholder. She won the Miss New York USA pageant in 1995 and was the first runner-up in Miss USA 1995. After Chelsi Smith won the Miss Universe 1995 pageant, Moakler became Miss USA. In December 2001, she was named Playmate of the Month by Playboy magazine.
Shanna eventually pursued an acting career, appearing as a regular for two seasons on the USA Network television series Pacific Blue in 1998, and starring as herself on the reality television series Meet the Barkers in 2005, alongside her then-husband Travis Barker, drummer in the rock band Blink-182. She was also announced as a new cast member for the VH1 reality series Hollywood Exes in January 2014.
Shanna has also served as the executive producer of the Miss Nevada USA state pageant since 2012, after joining as a director in 2011. She acquired the Miss Utah USA franchise in 2018.
Her Early Life
Shanna Moakler, born to John W. Moakler III and Gail Moakler, is of German, Irish, and Portuguese ancestry. She was born on March 28, 1975, in Providence, Rhode Island. She has two older brothers, Kirk and John W. IV, and an older sister, Michelle, who passed away in 2012.
Shanna attended Barrington High School. She considers herself a tomboy and the school’s biggest dork. She claims she wasn’t even that tall and weighed 75 pounds when she was 17. By the time she graduated, she had dated the football team’s captain and been voted the best dressed.
As a child, she enjoyed visiting her grandfather’s farm, where she could play outside and have fun like boys! Shanna was also an extremely competitive roller skater for twelve years! After graduating, she moved to Miami, then to New York, before settling in Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.
Her Modeling Journey
Shanna began competing in beauty pageants when she was very young. Shanna represented Rhode Island at the Miss Teen USA pageant in 1992 when she was 17 years old. She finished seventh overall, scoring 9.115, 9.279, and 9.087 in the preliminary, interview, and swimsuit rounds, respectively!
In 1993, she won her first beauty pageant, Miss Teen All-American. After winning the title, she was unstoppable.
In 1995, Shanna was crowned ‘Miss New York USA’ in the Miss USA pageant. Soon after winning the title, she became the first runner-up in the Miss USA pageant, scoring 9.06, 9.62, and 9.61 in the preliminary, interview, and swimsuit divisions respectively.
Shanna was crowned Miss USA in 1995, following Chelsi Smith’s win as Miss Universe. She later appeared in several magazines, including Cosmopolitan and Brentwood. She gained attention when she posed for Playboy magazine and was named ‘Playmate of the Month’ in December 2011. Shanna admitted to being nervous while posing nude for the magazine.
Shanna had also posed naked for PETA during an anti-fur campaign. She had also appeared in an advertisement for Cutty Stark.
Her TV Career
Shanna began her television career in 1996, making occasional appearances on shows such as Louis and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Due South.
In 1997, she appeared in the television film Friends ‘Till The End, alongside Shannen Doherty.
In 1998, she appeared briefly in ‘Timecop’ as Allison Kendall. She also landed her first major role at the start of the same year. On the television drama Pacific Blue, she played Officer Monica Harper, a troublesome rookie.
From 1999 to 2000, she competed as a celebrity contestant on the reality game show Search Party. The show aired on E Network, and the contestants were required to complete specific tasks in various exotic locations.
In 2003, she appeared on Punk’d, where she assisted Ashton Kutcher in punking her then-boyfriend, Travis Barker.
She appeared on Matt Le Blanc’s television show, ‘Joey’, in 2005. The same year, she appeared as a guest on Jake in Progress, starring John Stamos.
From 2005 to 2006, she and her then-husband, Travis Barker, starred in MTV’s reality show ‘Meet the Barkers’.
From 2006 to 2010, she appeared on a number of television shows, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Entourage, Dancing with the Stars, Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants, and Minutes to Win It, also known as The Last Beauty Standing. Shanna was the Last Beauty Standing among the ten contestants, and she won the competition. She won $10,000 for her charity.

In 1997, she began a relationship with rock star Billy Idol. They appeared together in the film The Wedding Singer.
In October 1997, she began dating boxer Oscar De La Hoya. She has a daughter named Atiana Cecelia De La Hoya with him. They became engaged in 1999 but ended their relationship in 2000, after which Shanna filed a palimony suit against Oscar, alleging that he abused her and was also an alcoholic. In 2011, the case was settled outside of court with Oscar giving financial support for their daughter.
In 2001, she began dating actor Dennis Quaid, but their relationship did not last long.
On October 30, 2004, she married Travis Barker. The couple has two children: a son, Landon Asher Barker, and a daughter, Alabama Luella Parker. The children were born on October 9, 2003, and December 24, 2005, respectively.
Travis filed for divorce in 2006. Shanna blamed Travis for their divorce because she was convinced he was seeing Parish Hilton. There were also rumors that Shanna would hit Paris.
Shanna hosted a breakup party for herself in Las Vegas in November 2006, complete with a divorce cake. Their relationship had been on and off for quite some time.
They even appeared at the 2007 Video Music Awards. They finally separated in 2009, and they have been co-parenting their children since then.
Travis and Shanna had another verbal argument in 2014, but they reconciled their differences and are now in a good place.
Shanna has been dating biker Bryan Sollima, known as ‘Hells Angel’, since 2014.
