Friends, Here Are The Sizzling Hot Latinas In Hollywood

And since you love Latinas, we decided (it’s about goddamn time! -Editor) to make one (we already made a couple of lists before) who are in Hollywood.  Yup, the one who made you drool over them back then.  The ones who steal the scene in movies.  And no, we won’t be including those in the pop music scene or the fashion world (as they will be in another listicle).  So sit back, enjoy, and probably remember the first time you saw these women on the big screen or the one in your living room.

Eiza Gonzalez

Her Hollywood breakthrough came with Baby Driver (2017), and she’s since starred in major films like Hobbs & Shaw, Godzilla vs. Kong, Ambulance, and the Netflix hit The 3-Body Problem.  She also appeared on TV in From Dusk Till Dawn and was even a final contender for the role of Catwoman.

Eiza Gonzalez

Outside acting, Eiza has released two music albums — Contracorriente and Te Acordarás de Mí — and is fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian. Despite her success, she’s been open about struggling with obsessive overeating and depression linked to her father’s death, showing a remarkable mix of vulnerability and resilience.

Isabela Merced

Isabela Merced, born in Ohio to a Peruvian mother and a father from Louisiana, is an actress and singer who’s been performing since she was a child.  She made her Broadway debut in Evita at just 10 years old and later changed her stage name from Isabela Moner to Isabela Merced in honor of her Peruvian grandmother — a nod to her roots, since she considers herself more Peruvian than American.  She’s the middle child with two brothers and brings that vibrant family energy to everything she does.

Isabela Merced

Merced has starred in major films like Transformers: The Last Knight and Dora and the Lost City of Gold, and she’s known for her love of the ukulele.  She’s also openly queer and proud of incorporating her identity into her work.  On a lighter note, she has a fear of small spaces and once had a traumatic turtleneck moment as a child — proving that even stars have their funny, awkward struggles.

Isabela Merced

Victoria Justice

Victoria Justice, born February 19, 1993, in Hollywood, Florida, is an American actress and singer who’s been entertaining audiences since she was a kid.  She moved to Hollywood, California, at age ten to chase her acting dreams, landing small roles in shows like Gilmore Girls and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody before her big break came on Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101 as Lola Martinez.

Victoria Justice

Her star truly rose with the hit Nickelodeon series Victorious, where she played Tori Vega, a teen navigating life at a performing arts high school.  The show ran from 2010 to 2013 and made Victoria a teen pop culture icon — and gave her the chance to show off her singing skills with several songs released as singles.

Victoria Justice

Since her Nickelodeon days, Victoria has kept busy with projects like MTV’s thriller series Eye Candy and films such as The Outcasts and Bigger.  She’s also continued her music career, performing for soundtracks and releasing singles along the way.  With her mix of acting chops, vocal talent, and enduring charm, Victoria Justice has proven she’s much more than just a teen star — she’s a versatile entertainer who keeps evolving.

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek, the Mexican-American actress and producer, has become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable and respected stars — and she’s just as fierce off-screen as she is on it.  Born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico in 1966, Hayek dropped out of university to chase her dream of acting, starting out in Mexican telenovelas before heading to Los Angeles in 1991.

Salma Hayek

Her big break came with Desperado (1995), where she starred alongside Antonio Banderas, but it was her powerful portrayal of iconic artist Frida Kahlo in Frida (2002) that truly made history — earning her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, the first ever for a Mexican actress.

Since then, Hayek’s filmography has spanned everything from action flicks like From Dusk Till Dawn and Wild Wild West to animated hits like Puss in Boots.  Behind the camera, she’s been just as impressive, producing hit shows like Ugly Betty.

Salma Hayek

Off-screen, Hayek is a passionate activist for women’s rights and education.  She co-founded Chime for Change with Beyoncé and Gucci’s Frida Giannini to support global gender equality and access to healthcare, and she works closely with UNICEF to help reduce maternal mortality worldwide.

Sofía Vergara

Sofía Vergara is the definition of charisma and hustle — a Colombian-American actress, producer, and business powerhouse who turned a chance encounter on a beach into global fame.  Born on July 10, 1972, in Barranquilla, Colombia, she was discovered by a photographer while walking along the shore, and just like that, the modeling offers started rolling in.

Sofia Vergara

Before Hollywood came calling, Vergara actually studied dentistry for three years (imagine your dentist being that glamorous) before dropping out to chase her career in entertainment.  After her brother’s kidnapping during Colombia’s civil unrest, she relocated to Miami — a move that would eventually set her on the path to stardom.

Her early acting gigs included Big Trouble (2002) and Chasing Papi, but it was her iconic role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family that made her a household name.  From 2009 to 2020, Vergara’s hilarious, heart-filled performance earned her multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award nominations — not to mention a spot in TV history.

Sofia Vergara
Off-screen, Sofía is just as impressive.  She co-founded Latin World Entertainment, a top talent management and marketing firm, and built her own empire with fashion and fragrance lines.  As a thyroid cancer survivor, she also uses her platform to promote early detection and preventive care.

Penélope Cruz

Penélope Cruz Sánchez was born on April 28, 1974, in Madrid, Spain — and from the start, it was clear she wasn’t destined for an ordinary life.  Raised in a working-class family, she first dreamed of becoming a ballerina and trained for years at Spain’s National Conservatory before realizing her true calling was acting.  By 15, she’d already landed her first TV role — and the rest, as they say, is history.

Penélope Cruz

Her breakout came at 18 with the steamy and critically acclaimed Jamon Jamon (1992), a film that not only launched her career but also introduced her to the world as a powerhouse performer with both beauty and grit.  Soon after, she began a long and celebrated collaboration with legendary director Pedro Almodóvar, starring in cinematic gems like All About My Mother and Volver — films that helped make her an international star and an icon of Spanish cinema.

Hollywood quickly took notice.  After her U.S. debut in The Hi-Lo Country (1998), Cruz’s career skyrocketed with Vanilla Sky (2001), where she held her own opposite Tom Cruise.  She continued bouncing effortlessly between Spanish art films and Hollywood blockbusters, proving that subtitles or not, talent speaks every language.

Penélope Cruz

In 2009, she made history by winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, becoming the first Spanish actress ever to take home an Oscar.

Today, Penélope Cruz is celebrated not just for her acting range and undeniable charisma, but for her ability to glide between cultures and genres with the grace of the ballerina she once trained to be.  Whether she’s playing a fiery romantic, a haunted mother, or a scene-stealing muse, one thing’s for sure — when Penélope Cruz is on screen, you can’t look away.

Génesis Rodríguez

Génesis Rodríguez is proof that talent really can run in the family. Born on July 29, 1987, in Miami, Florida, she grew up surrounded by showbiz sparkle — her mom, Carolina Pérez, was a Cuban model, and her dad, José Luis Rodríguez (a.k.a. El Puma), was a Venezuelan music legend.  With that pedigree, it’s no wonder Génesis was practically destined for the spotlight.

Genesis Rodriguez

She made her acting debut in the Telemundo telenovela Prisionera (2004), playing the daughter of a wrongly imprisoned woman, and audiences instantly took notice.  From there, she charmed viewers as a sweet chocolatier in Dame Chocolate (2007) and the fiercely loyal daughter in Doña Bárbara (2008–09).  With her charisma, looks, and on-screen warmth, she became a telenovela favorite in no time.

Her bilingual edge soon opened doors in Hollywood, where she appeared on Days of Our Lives, Entourage, and made her big-screen debut in Man on a Ledge (2012), earning an ALMA nomination.  That same year, she showed off her comedy chops opposite Will Ferrell in Casa de mi Padre and joined the star-studded cast of What to Expect When You’re Expecting as Anna Kendrick’s roommate.

Genesis Rodriguez

Rodríguez kept the momentum going with high-energy roles in The Last Stand (2013) alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Identity Thief (2013) with Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy.

With her charm, talent, and unmistakable bilingual flair, Génesis Rodríguez has proven she’s more than just a pretty face from a famous family — she’s a scene-stealer who can do drama, comedy, and everything in between.

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria is the ultimate multi-hyphenate — actress, producer, director, philanthropist, and all-around powerhouse.  Born on March 15, 1975, in Corpus Christi, Texas, she first stepped into the spotlight after being crowned Miss Corpus Christi, USA in 1998.  That win gave her the confidence to chase Hollywood dreams, and after a few smaller TV roles, she found her big break as Isabella Braña on The Young and the Restless (2001–2003).

Eva Longoria

But it was Desperate Housewives that made Eva a household name.  From 2004 to 2012, she stole scenes (and hearts) as the glamorous and delightfully complicated Gabrielle Solis — a role that earned her critical acclaim, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Golden Globe nomination.

Eva Longoria

Never one to stay in one lane, Longoria expanded her career behind the camera, producing and directing shows like Devious Maids and several hit TV episodes.  She’s also a force off-screen — founding the Eva Longoria Foundation in 2012 to empower Latinas through education and entrepreneurship, and co-founding Eva’s Heroes, which supports individuals with special needs.

Whether she’s calling the shots on set or championing social causes, Eva Longoria continues to prove that beauty, brains, and heart make for an unbeatable combination.

Eva Mendes

Eva Mendes is one of those rare stars who can make everything look effortless — whether she’s playing opposite Denzel Washington, designing chic homeware, or raising two kids with Ryan Gosling.  Born on March 5, 1974, in Miami to Cuban parents and raised in Los Angeles, Eva didn’t originally plan on becoming an actress.  She actually studied marketing before deciding that a life behind the camera just wasn’t glamorous enough.

Eva Mendes

Her breakout came in Training Day (2001), where she more than held her own alongside Denzel Washington — and Hollywood definitely noticed. From there, she sped into blockbuster territory with 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), charmed audiences in Hitch (2005), and showed off her comedy chops in The Other Guys (2010).  Known for her mix of glamour and grit, Mendes has proven she can pull off just about any role.

Eva Mendes

Off-screen, Eva’s a fashion icon and entrepreneur, launching her own home collection with Macy’s and fronting campaigns for major international brands.  She’s also deeply involved in philanthropy, supporting groups like The Art of Elysium, which brings art to hospitalized children, and raising awareness for cervical cancer.

Since stepping back from acting in 2014 to focus on family life with Gosling and their two daughters, Mendes has remained as magnetic as ever — a timeless reminder that talent, style, and heart never go out of fashion.

Jordana Brewster

Jordana Brewster has been revving up Hollywood screens for decades — and not just because of all those Fast & Furious car chases.  Born on April 26, 1980, in Panama City, Panama, Jordana comes from a background as dynamic as her film roles.  Her mother, Maria João, was a Brazilian swimsuit model, and her father, Alden Brewster, was an American investment banker — a mix that gave Jordana both beauty and brains.

Jordana Brewster

She made her TV debut back in 1995 with a small role on All My Children, then grabbed attention as Nikki Munson on As the World Turns.  But her real breakout came when she joined the Fast & Furious family as Mia Toretto — a role that turned her into a global star and cemented her place in action movie history.

Jordana Brewster

Outside the world of speeding cars and exploding engines, Jordana’s done her share of modeling too, working with big names like Gap and earning a spot on Maxim’s Hot 100 list in 2002.  Despite her fame, she’s known for keeping things grounded — balancing her Hollywood career with family life and proving that you can have both style and substance.

Nathalie Kelley

Nathalie Kelley is a Peruvian-Australian actress who’s brought charm, mystery, and flair to every screen she’s graced — from The Vampire Diaries to Dynasty and unREAL.  Born in Peru, Nathalie moved with her family to Sydney when she was just two, where she grew up surrounded by Australia’s mix of beach life and big-city buzz.

Nathalie Kelley

From a young age, Kelley knew she wanted to perform.  She convinced her parents to send her to acting school, and before long, she was hooked. Never one to stay in one place for too long, she headed to Brazil as a teenager to try her hand at modeling — because why not?  Eventually, she returned home to Sydney to study political science at the University of New South Wales, but her acting dreams refused to take the back seat for long.

Her big break came when she landed a role in a CW pilot called Mermaid.  The show didn’t make it to air, but it opened Hollywood’s doors — and Nathalie didn’t waste her shot.  In 2006, she made her film debut in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and soon after, appeared in films like Loaded (2008) and Take Me Home Tonight (2011).

Nathalie Kelley

Television, however, became her true playground.  She turned heads in Body of Proof, made a splash on unREAL, bewitched audiences in The Vampire Diaries, and brought glamour (and plenty of drama) to the Dynasty reboot in 2017.

With her globe-trotting background, natural charisma, and refusal to be boxed in, Nathalie Kelley has built a career that’s as unpredictable and fascinating as she is.

Emmanuelle Chriqui

Emmanuelle Chriqui, the effortlessly cool Canadian actress with Moroccan roots, has been winning hearts on screens big and small for years.  Born on December 10, 1975, in Montreal and raised in Markham, Ontario, she caught the acting bug early — and by early, we mean starring in a McDonald’s commercial at just ten years old. Not a bad start for someone who’d later become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces.

Emmanuelle Chriqui

Her big break came in 1999 with Detroit Rock City, but it was her role as the impossibly charming Sloan McQuewick on HBO’s Entourage that made her a fan favorite (and the envy of half the show’s audience).  The role earned her critical praise and even a Screen Actors Guild nomination in 2006 — proof that her talent matched her on-screen magnetism.

Emmanuelle Chriqui

Chriqui didn’t stop there.  She showed her range in series like The Mentalist and The Borgias, and popped up in films including You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, Wrong Turn, and The Crow: Wicked Prayer.  Whether she’s playing the girl next door, a historical intrigue, or a sharp-witted scene-stealer, Emmanuelle brings depth, warmth, and that signature sparkle that’s all her own.

Morena Baccarin

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Morena Baccarin has that rare mix of elegance and intensity that makes her unforgettable on screen.  Born on June 2, 1979, to actress Vera Setta and journalist Fernando Baccarin, it’s fair to say the spotlight was practically in her DNA.  When she was ten, her family traded tropical Rio for the bright lights of New York City — a move that would set the stage for her future in Hollywood.  Later, she trained at the world-famous Juilliard School, because of course she did.

Morena Baccarin

Morena’s big break came in 2002 when she joined Joss Whedon’s cult hit Firefly as Inara Serra — the poised, sharp, and quietly powerful companion who became an instant fan favorite.  From there, her star only rose.  She brought emotional weight to the sci-fi reboot V, racked up an Emmy nomination for Homeland, and cemented her pop-culture status as Vanessa Carlysle in the Deadpool movies — the kind of role that proves she can balance heart, humor, and chaos all at once.

Morena Baccarin

Even with her Hollywood success, Morena hasn’t strayed far from her theatrical roots, performing on stage in productions like The Seagull in Central Park.  Off-screen, she’s just as passionate, using her platform to advocate for women’s rights and child welfare.

Smart, sophisticated, and refreshingly grounded, Morena Baccarin continues to shine — a true powerhouse who can move seamlessly between galaxies, spy dramas, and superhero worlds without missing a beat.

Sofia Carson

Sofía Daccarett Char — better known by her stage name Sofia Carson — is an American actress and singer who has been dazzling Disney fans and beyond since the mid-2010s.  Born on April 10, 1993, she got her start on television with a guest role on Austin & Ally, charming audiences right out of the gate.

Her big break came in 2015 when she stepped into the sparkly shoes of Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen, in Disney Channel’s smash hit Descendants.  The role made her an instant fan favorite — blue hair, sass, and all — and she reprised it in the 2017 sequel Descendants 2, proving she was here to stay.

Sofia Carson

From there, Sofia kept busy.  In 2016 alone, she starred as Lola Perez in Adventures in Babysitting, played Melanie Sanchez in Tini: The Movie, and took on a modern fairytale twist as Tessa in A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits.

By 2019, she was branching out even further, joining the Pretty Little Liars spinoff The Perfectionists — because who doesn’t love a little mystery mixed with glamour?

With her mix of charm, talent, and that signature Disney sparkle, Sofia Carson has built a career that’s equal parts music, magic, and unstoppable ambition.

Melissa Fumero

Melissa Fumero has the kind of career story every drama student dreams of — the kind that goes from classroom to camera almost overnight.  Born Melissa Gallo on August 19, 1982, in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, she grew up in a Cuban-American family with parents who had fled Cuba as teenagers.  As a kid, Melissa loved to dance, but her real spark for performing hit when her parents took her to see The Secret Garden on Broadway at age ten.  From that moment, acting wasn’t just a dream — it was the plan.

She set her sights on New York University’s prestigious drama program (because of course she did) and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2003.  Then, in what sounds like a scene from a movie about making it in showbiz, Fumero got her first big break five hours after finishing her final exam.  Her agent called: she had an audition for One Life to Live.  She landed the part and spent the next four years playing Adriana Cramer, the long-lost daughter of one of the soap’s most iconic characters.  Not bad for her first gig.

Melissa Fumero

That job also came with a little extra perk — she met her future husband, David Fumero, on set (So yes, One Life to Live was kind of life-changing in more ways than one).

After leaving daytime TV, Melissa popped up on primetime favorites like Gossip Girl, CSI: New York, and The Mentalist, before switching gears entirely — from soap opera tears to sitcom laughs — when she landed the role of Detective Amy Santiago on Brooklyn Nine-Nine in 2013.  Her by-the-book, overachieving Amy became the perfect comedic foil to Andy Samberg’s laid-back Jake Peralta, and fans loved every neurotically perfect second of it.

Since then, Fumero’s kept things fun and fresh.  She’s lent her voice to animated series like Velma and Digman! and made guest appearances on the Night Court reboot.

Odette Annable

Odette Annable (born Odette Juliette Yustman on May 10, 1985) has been lighting up screens since she was barely tall enough to see over a craft services table.  Born and raised in Los Angeles, she was practically surrounded by the Hollywood sign from day one — so it’s no surprise she found her way into show business early.

Odette Yustman

Her acting career began at just five years old when she appeared in Kindergarten Cop alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yes, that movie. And yes, she probably has better kindergarten stories than the rest of us.  After that early start, Odette continued to build a name for herself, landing her breakout role in the 2007 monster hit Cloverfield, where she ran, screamed, and solidified her spot on every casting director’s radar.

From there, she showed just how versatile she could be — starring in comedies like You Again, tackling drama on House, and stepping into the superhero universe with Supergirl.  Whether she’s cracking jokes or saving the day, Odette brings an effortless charm that makes her instantly likable.

Odette Yustman

Off-screen, she’s every bit as grounded as she is talented.  She married fellow actor Dave Annable in 2010, and the two share a daughter — because clearly, “adorable Hollywood family” is another role she plays perfectly.

With her mix of charisma, range, and down-to-earth humor, Odette Annable proves you can grow up in Hollywood and still keep both feet firmly planted on the ground…   even when one of them’s wearing designer heels.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez — or as the world lovingly calls her, J.Lo — is a singer, actress, dancer, and all-around powerhouse who’s been defining what it means to be a triple threat for decades.  Born on July 24, 1969, in The Bronx, New York, to Puerto Rican parents Guadalupe Rodríguez and David López, Jennifer grew up with rhythm in her blood and ambition that could outshine a disco ball.

Jennifer Lopez

Her first big break came as a dancer on In Living Color, where her sharp moves and undeniable charisma stole every shot she was in.  But it was her breakout role playing the beloved Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez in Selena that turned her into a household name.  From there, Hollywood couldn’t get enough — she went on to star in fan favorites like Out of Sight, The Wedding Planner, and Maid in Manhattan, proving she could charm audiences just as easily as she could hit a high note.

Speaking of high notes, J.Lo didn’t stop at acting.  She stormed the music charts with albums like On the 6, J.Lo, and This Is Me…  Then, blessing the world with timeless hits like “If You Had My Love,” “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” and, of course, “Jenny From the Block.”  Because no matter how big she got, she never forgot where she came from.

Jennifer Lopez

Off-stage, Lopez has built a business empire that’s just as impressive — from her bestselling fragrances (Glow by J.Lo was basically the early-2000s in a bottle) to her fashion lines and her production company, Nuyorican Productions.  She’s also dedicated time and resources to philanthropy, supporting causes like Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Amnesty International.

After decades in the spotlight, J.Lo continues to prove that talent, hustle, and a little Bronx attitude can take you just about anywhere.  She’s not just an entertainer — she’s an era.

Adria Arjona

Adria Arjona is one of those actresses who seems to pop up everywhere — and always steals the scene when she does.  You might recognize her from Good Omens, Morbius, or Andor (yes, she actually made it into the Star Wars universe — a dream she’s had since forever).

Adria Arjona

Born in Puerto Rico to Puerto Rican mother Leslie Torres and Guatemalan music legend Ricardo Arjona, Adria spent her early years in Mexico City before her family moved to Miami when she was 12.  By 18, she was ready for bigger stages — so she packed her bags and headed to New York City to study at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

But acting isn’t her only adventure.  Adria once went to circus school (yes, really) and describes herself as a bit of a thrill-seeker.  She even has a tattoo of a Star Wars character — proof that sometimes, fandoms do come full circle.

Adria Arjona

She started out with small but memorable TV roles in Person of Interest and True Detective before moving into film and streaming hits.  Whether she’s playing a morally complex character in a sci-fi saga or showing off her comedic side, Adria brings an effortless mix of confidence, depth, and charm that keeps audiences coming back for more.

Roselyn Sánchez

Roselyn Sánchez is the definition of a multitalented powerhouse.  Born on April 2, 1973, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she’s been dazzling audiences for decades with her acting, singing, and even her writing.  From the start, it was clear she was born for the spotlight — she was dancing and performing before most kids could even spell “stage.”

Roselyn Sánchez

Her first taste of fame came in the early ’90s when she won Miss Puerto Rico Petite in 1993 and then Miss American Petite the following year — titles that opened the door to Hollywood and beyond.  By the late ’90s, Roselyn was making waves on screen, landing memorable roles in hits like Rush Hour 2 and The Game Plan.  But it was her work on TV that really made her a household name. She earned critical praise (and award nominations) for her role in Without a Trace and later stole the show as the glamorous and mischievous Carmen Luna in Devious Maids.

Roselyn Sánchez

As if acting weren’t enough, Roselyn also ventured into music, releasing her debut album Borinqueña in 2003 — complete with the catchy single “Amor Amor.”  And because she clearly doesn’t do anything halfway, she even co-wrote a children’s book, Sebi and the Land of Cha Cha Cha, inspired by her love of family and dance.

From beauty queen to Hollywood star to singer and author, Roselyn Sánchez continues to prove that talent — and charisma — are two things she’ll never run out of.

Rachel Zegler

Rachel Zegler is one of those rare talents who seems to have been born ready for the spotlight.  An American actress, singer, and onetime YouTube sensation, she skyrocketed to fame after landing the coveted role of Maria Vasquez in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 remake of West Side Story.  Her performance didn’t just turn heads — it earned her a Golden Globe Award and Critics Choice Award nominations, officially marking her as Hollywood’s next big thing.

Rachel Zegler

Born Rachel Anne Zegler, she was actually named after Rachel Green from Friends (yes, that Rachel Green — her parents clearly had great taste).  Of Colombian and Polish descent, Zegler grew up with a deep love for performing, first sharing her powerhouse vocals on YouTube before conquering the big screen.

After dazzling audiences in West Side Story, she went on to play Lucy Gray Baird in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes — a perfect fit for someone who already knows how to command a stage.  And she’s not slowing down anytime soon: next up, she’s set to play Disney’s live-action Snow White.

Rachel Zegler

Oh, and as if that weren’t enough, she’s also taken her talents to the stage — making her Broadway debut in 2024.  Whether she’s singing, acting, or posting charmingly chaotic tweets, Rachel Zegler continues to prove she’s got the kind of star power that can’t be taught.

Zoë Saldaña

Zoe Saldaña has built a career that’s as bold and dynamic as the roles she plays.  Born on June 19, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey, she’s of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent — a mix that shaped not only her identity but also her artistry.  She spent part of her childhood in the Dominican Republic, where she fell in love with dance (especially ballet) — a passion that would later find its way into her acting.

Zoe Saldana

Her big break came with Center Stage, where she played, fittingly, a gifted ballet dancer.  The combination of her grace and grit quickly caught Hollywood’s attention, leading to memorable turns in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Star Trek.  But it was her role as Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar — the highest-grossing film ever — that launched her into cinematic legend.

Beyond her on-screen work, Saldaña is also a fierce advocate for representation and storytelling.  She co-founded BESE, a digital media platform that highlights untold stories from across America’s diverse communities.  She’s also deeply involved in philanthropy, using her platform to champion causes close to her heart.

Zoe Saldana

Despite her global fame (and a résumé that includes everything from sci-fi epics to superhero blockbusters), Zoe remains refreshingly down-to-earth.  She credits her success to her roots, hard work, and an unshakable sense of self — proving that grace and power can absolutely coexist, both on and off screen.

Aubrey Plaza

Aubrey Plaza has built a career out of making awkwardness look cool — and she’s absolutely owned it.  Born on June 26, 1984, in Wilmington, Delaware, she’s been performing in one way or another since she could talk.  After attending Ursuline Academy, she took her sharp wit and offbeat sense of humor to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned a degree in film (and probably perfected that famous deadpan delivery).

Aubrey Plaza

Plaza’s big break came when she landed the role of April Ludgate on Parks and Recreation — the delightfully sarcastic intern who said what everyone else was thinking but didn’t dare say out loud.  The role turned her into a comedy icon and earned her legions of fans who appreciated her perfectly timed eye rolls.

But Aubrey Plaza isn’t just the queen of dry humor.  She’s also a powerhouse in film, delivering standout performances in Safety Not Guaranteed, The To Do List, and the darkly hilarious Ingrid Goes West — which she also produced.  She’s even conquered animation, lending her voice to Monsters University and The Legend of Korra.

Aubrey Plaza

Whether she’s hosting an awards show, improvising on stage, or producing behind the scenes, Plaza brings her signature mix of weird, witty, and wonderful to everything she does.  With her unpredictable charm and fearless approach to comedy, Aubrey Plaza continues to prove that nobody does “oddly brilliant” quite like her.

Gina Rodriguez

Gina Rodriguez is one of those rare talents who can do it all — act, write, produce, direct, and still make you laugh (or cry) along the way.  Born on July 30, 1984, in Chicago, she first cut her teeth on stage before making her TV debut in a 2004 episode of Law & Order — because, let’s be honest, that’s practically a rite of passage for any New York actor.

Gina Rodriguez

Her big break came in 2012 with the indie musical drama Filly Brown, where she played a young rapper finding her voice — literally and figuratively.  But it was her starring role as Jane Villanueva on Jane the Virgin that turned her into a household name.  The show’s mix of heart, humor, and telenovela-level drama earned Gina a Golden Globe in 2015 (and two more nominations), solidifying her as one of TV’s most charming leading ladies.

Gina Rodriguez

Since then, Rodriguez has flexed her range in films like Deepwater Horizon and Annihilation, proving she can hold her own in everything from high-stakes disaster flicks to mind-bending sci-fi.  She’s also shown up on fan-favorite shows like The Bold and the Beautiful, The Mentalist, and Army Wives, plus nabbed an Imagen Award nomination for her work in Go for It!.

Anya Taylor-Joy

Anya Taylor-Joy might be one of Hollywood’s most magnetic stars today, but her story starts far from the bright lights.  Born in Miami, Florida, to British and Argentine parents, she grew up between Buenos Aires and London as the youngest of six kids — which probably explains her mix of elegance, intensity, and that little spark of mischief she brings to every role.

Anya Taylor-Joy

Before conquering Hollywood, Anya trained as a ballet dancer and dabbled in modeling — though acting was always the real dream.  Her first audition was for Maleficent (2014), and after a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance in Vampire Academy that same year, she struck gold with her haunting performance as Thomasin in The Witch (2015).  The eerie period horror became a breakout hit and introduced audiences to her signature mix of vulnerability and quiet ferocity.

From there, she kept audiences on edge with roles in Morgan (2016) and Split (2016), where she went toe-to-toe with James McAvoy’s many personalities, before appearing in Barry (2016), a film about Barack Obama’s early years.  Her range and intensity quickly made her one of the most sought-after young talents in film.

Anya Taylor-Joy

In 2020, she charmed audiences and critics alike as the clever and meddlesome heroine in Emma, earning a Golden Globe nomination.  But that same year, she became a global sensation as chess prodigy Beth Harmon in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit — a performance that earned her a Golden Globe and a SAG Award, and made chess inexplicably cool again.

More recently, she’s stepped into even bigger cinematic worlds, appearing as Alia Atreides in Dune: Part Two (2024) and revving up the screen as the fierce title character in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024). Whether she’s plotting checkmates or surviving dystopias, Anya Taylor-Joy continues to prove that she’s not just playing the game — she’s rewriting the rules.

Rosario Dawson

Rosario Dawson is one of those rare Hollywood powerhouses who seems to do it all — and do it well.  Actress, producer, activist — she’s built a career that’s as bold and multifaceted as the woman herself.

Rosario Dawson

Born on May 9, 1979, in New York City, Dawson’s story sounds like something straight out of a movie.  At just 15, she was literally discovered sitting on her front stoop by filmmaker Larry Clark, who cast her in his gritty 1995 cult hit Kids.  One film later, and Hollywood had found its next big talent.

From there, Dawson proved she wasn’t afraid to take risks, moving effortlessly between indie darlings and big-budget blockbusters.  You’ve seen her sing her heart out in Rent (2005), battle corruption in Sin City (2005), and hold her own next to aliens in Men in Black II (2002).  She’s also no stranger to the superhero world, voicing Wonder Woman in multiple DC animated films and Batgirl in The Lego Batman Movie (2017) — not to mention lending her voice to the eerie Dishonored video game series.

Rosario Dawson

Her performances are consistently magnetic, earning her critical nods like a Critics’ Choice nomination for Briarpatch (2019), where she proved (again) that she can anchor a story with brains, charisma, and bite.

But Rosario Dawson’s influence extends far beyond the screen.  She’s a passionate activist who co-founded Voto Latino, an organization dedicated to empowering young Latinx voters across the U.S. She’s also been deeply involved in environmental causes and social justice campaigns, using her platform to spark real change.

Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez was basically born to play a badass.  Born Mayte Michelle Rodriguez on July 12, 1978, in San Antonio, Texas, she’s spent her career proving that strength, grit, and heart can absolutely coexist on screen — and she’s been doing it with serious style.

Her childhood was as dynamic as her filmography — she grew up bouncing between Texas, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.  That rich mix of cultures shaped her perspective and gave her the kind of edge that Hollywood doesn’t easily forget.

Michelle Rodriguez

Rodriguez first revved into the spotlight in 2000 with Girlfight, playing a fierce boxer who punches her way through both the ring and society’s expectations.  The film earned her an Independent Spirit Award and announced to the world: this woman is not here to play it safe.

From there, she became a staple of action cinema — the kind of actor you call when you need someone who can look equally convincing throwing a punch, firing a weapon, or driving a car straight through a wall.  She’s been the backbone of massive franchises like The Fast and the Furious and Resident Evil, where her no-nonsense energy and tough-as-nails characters became fan favorites.

Michelle Rodriguez

But Michelle isn’t all explosions and adrenaline. Off-screen, she’s a passionate environmental advocate, lending her time and voice to causes that protect the planet and promote sustainability.  She’s also a vocal supporter of social justice and equality, proving that her strength isn’t just for the big screen — it’s a core part of who she is.

Camilla Belle

Camilla Belle Routh — or just Camilla Belle, as Hollywood knows her — has been lighting up screens since before most of us could spell “cinema.”  Born on October 2, 1986, in Los Angeles, she practically grew up surrounded by creativity.  Her mom, Cristina Gould, is a Brazilian-born fashion designer, and her dad, Jack Wesley Routh, is a construction company owner and former country music composer.  In other words, artistic flair and hard work were part of the family DNA.

Camilla Belle

Camilla made her acting debut in the 1993 TV movie Empty Cradle — and she didn’t waste any time climbing the Hollywood ladder.  Her breakout came two years later with A Little Princess (1995), where she charmed audiences and casting directors alike.  Then came The Lost World: Jurassic Park, because apparently even dinosaurs couldn’t resist her star power.

As she grew up, Camilla proved she wasn’t just another child actor.  She moved seamlessly between genres — from the eerie tension of The Quiet, to the prehistoric adventure of 10,000 BC, to the classic horror chills of When a Stranger Calls.  No matter the role, she brought that same mix of poise and depth that’s become her signature.

Camilla Belle

Off-screen, Camilla’s just as impressive.  She’s deeply involved in philanthropy, working with organizations like Kids With A Cause and The Art of Elysium to support children and young people in need.  And if that wasn’t enough, she’s also a certified fashion icon — regularly gracing best-dressed lists with her timeless, old-Hollywood sense of style.

Alexis Bledel

Alexis Bledel — yes, the same Alexis who made us all want to drink coffee at Luke’s Diner and read every book in Stars Hollow — is an American actress and model best known for playing the whip-smart Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls.  Born Kimberly Alexis Bledel on September 16, 1981, in Houston, Texas, she was discovered at a local mall (because of course she was — that’s how all fairytale beginnings start).

Alexis Bledel

Before conquering TV, she studied at the Page Parkes Center of Modeling and Acting, later polishing her craft at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.  Then came Gilmore Girls (2000–2007), and suddenly, Bledel wasn’t just Rory — she was every book-loving, overachieving teen with a soft spot for coffee and pop culture. Her performance even earned her a Young Artist Award, plus a lifelong fanbase that still quotes Lorelai’s one-liners.

Alexis Bledel

After Gilmore Girls, Alexis proved she was more than just small-town charm. She starred in Tuck Everlasting, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and later shocked audiences as Ofglen in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale — a chilling performance that won her an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.  Talk about range.

Beyond acting, she’s also tried her hand at producing, including the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life revival, and uses her platform for good — particularly to advocate for children’s literacy.

Stephanie Beatriz

Stephanie Beatriz is one of those rare actors who can say she got exactly what she wished for — and then some.  Early in her career, she told her agent she wanted to do “something like Parks and Recreation.”  A few years later, she landed Brooklyn Nine-Nine, created by Parks and Rec alumni Michael Schur and Dan Goor.  Wish granted.

Born in Argentina and raised in the Clear Lake area of Houston, Texas, Beatriz has Colombian and Bolivian roots — and an energy as fierce as her most famous character, Detective Rosa Diaz.  On Brooklyn Nine-Nine, she became a fan favorite for her deadpan humor, no-nonsense attitude, and that growl of a voice that could make even Andy Samberg’s Jake Peralta freeze mid-joke.  Rosa wasn’t just funny — she was iconic, earning Beatriz praise for her comedic timing and commanding presence.

Stephanie Beatriz

Before she was keeping order in the Nine-Nine, Beatriz was honing her craft in regional theatre, taking on challenging roles like the title character in Octavio Solis’s play Lydia.  Her early TV days included guest spots on The Closer, Southland, and a memorable recurring role as Sonia, Gloria Pritchett’s delightfully jealous sister, on Modern Family.

On the big screen, she’s shown her range in indie hits like Short Term 12 (2013), the romantic drama You’re Not You (2016), and even Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday (2016).  Oh, and she lent her voice to Ice Age: Collision Course — because, honestly, what can’t she do?

Stephanie Beatriz

Stephanie Beatriz has built a career that’s as bold and layered as her characters — part comedian, part dramatic powerhouse, and all-around scene-stealer.  Whether she’s playing a stoic detective, a vulnerable sister, or an animated saber-toothed tiger, one thing’s for sure: she always leaves an impression.

And that’s it…  Now, how about Latinas in the music industry next time?
