Lovely Twins Niki and Gabi DeMartino Should Be On Your Radar

We love twins.  We just love featuring them.  But there aren’t a lot of ’em out there with lots of info.  And most of them aren’t as hot as this feature or our Davalos feature from years ago.

Gabi DeMartino

We may feature this two individually in the future, but for now, let’s enjoy them together.  So yeah, let’s get to know these two women and probably give them a follow after.  Oh, you won’t regret spending a few minutes in this one.

Who are Niki & Gabi DeMartino

“Niki and Gabi”, made up of twin sisters Niki DeMar and Gabi DeMartino, turned sibling chemistry into a full-blown entertainment career.  The duo first gained attention through their YouTube channel, where they shared covers, vlogs, and the sort of twin content that made viewers wonder how two people could possibly share that much screen time without arguing.

Their growing popularity led to a partnership with Awesomeness, which helped them produce several web series, including their self-titled reality show, which ran for five seasons.  They also made their acting debut in the 2016 comedy-drama film Dance Camp before officially entering the music world with their debut single, First, in 2017.

In 2018, the sisters picked up their first Streamy Award in the fashion category and released their debut EP, Individual, which landed on two Billboard charts.  Their final single as a duo before pursuing solo careers, Hair Tie, arrived in 2019.

Once they went their separate ways musically, both sisters continued building their own identities.  Niki released the EPs Nights Alone in 2021 and Ruined My Life in 2023, while Gabi released the studio album Paintings of Me in 2022 and the EP Gabroadway in 2020.  From YouTube twins to award-winning creators and solo musicians, the sisters clearly decided that sharing a career was fun—but having two of them might be even more interesting.

Their Early Lives

Twin sisters Nicola Teresa DeMartino and Gabriella Nelida DeMartino were born on May 5, 1995.  Raised in Pennsylvania, they attended Notre Dame High School in Easton before enrolling at DeSales University in Center Valley.  Niki studied television and film, while Gabi pursued musical theatre.  They made it through their junior year before deciding college wasn’t quite the career path they wanted and dropped out.

The sisters even tried their luck on The X Factor, auditioning alongside their older sister Alex with a performance of Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s Telephone.  The judges didn’t launch them into instant superstardom, but the twins clearly weren’t taking the hint to give up.

Their first YouTube project was the comedy channel 00RemakeGirls, where they posted skits before eventually creating Niki and Gabi Beauty, shifting their focus toward beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content.  In 2012, they signed with AwesomenessTV and StyleHaul, giving their online ambitions a serious boost.

A parody of Rebecca Black‘s Friday in 2013 helped propel the sisters further into YouTube fame.  They then began exploring music, releasing their first official single, We’re Not Over, on June 21, 2014.  Their follow-up, It, arrived in June 2015, although both songs were later removed from streaming platforms.  It was only the beginning, though.  By then, Niki and Gabi had already figured out that the internet was where their real audience was waiting.

Career Traction

Niki and Gabi DeMartino wasted little time expanding beyond YouTube.  In 2016, the twins made their acting debut in the YouTube Red comedy-drama film Dance Camp, playing sisters Mia and Mya, respectively.  That same year, Gabi released her first solo single, Ever After, while the pair earned a spot among Women’s Wear Daily’s top 10 beauty influencers.

Their music career picked up speed in 2017.  Niki and Gabi released their official debut single, First, in January, followed by R U in August as the lead single from their upcoming EP.  Niki also landed a role as Sadie in Season 2 of Hulu’s horror series Freakish. Meanwhile, Gabi created Blood Queens, a horror-comedy YouTube series inspired by Scream Queens.  The show premiered in October 2017 and ran for four seasons through 2020.

In 2018, the sisters added fashion to their growing résumé, teaming up with Wet Seal for the limited-edition Niki + Gabi for Wet Seal collection.  The line included tops, dresses, and accessories.  They followed that with Sleep It Off, the second single from their EP, before releasing Individual in July.  The debut EP reached No. 14 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and No. 32 on the Independent Albums chart, featuring their solo tracks Let It Roar and Flowers.

Gabi stayed busy outside the duo as well. She appeared on Mina Tobias’ Another One with Kai Lucas, released the diss track Yacht, and made a cameo in Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next music video.  Niki and Gabi signed with Abrams Artists Agency in 2019, while Gabi released Cold Room, a song she had written back in 2016.  In August, the twins released Hair Tie, their final single as a duo.  Niki followed with the Christmas song Sad Holiday in December.

Later that month, the sisters announced that they would focus on their solo careers, with plans to release individual studio albums in 2020 while leaving the door open for a joint tour.  Gabi remained independent while signing a management deal with Roc Nation. Her planned album, initially titled Beautiful Mess, went through some changes before becoming Paintings of Me.  She released the EP Gabroadway in June 2020 as a preview of the project.

Niki also began rolling out her solo material, releasing Alone in My Car in July 2020 and Bite of Me in October.  Gabi released Champagne Dreams in September as a potential album lead single, but the song was eventually removed from the track list.  After additional songwriting sessions and some creative reshuffling, Pretty Little Mind arrived in October as the new lead single for Paintings of Me.

The twins briefly stepped away from their collaborative YouTube channel in November 2020 before returning in March 2021.  They also launched the Snapchat reality series Twinning Out in May. Meanwhile, their solo careers continued to gather momentum.  Niki released Messy Room in 2021, followed by 25 in June.  Gabi performed songs from her upcoming album while opening for German DJ and producer Zedd at Musikfest in August, then released Not Today, the second single from Paintings of Me.

Gabi also partnered with Pumpkin & Spice that August to launch a skincare line, while Niki announced her debut solo EP, Nights Alone.  Released in September 2021, the EP marked another step toward establishing her identity outside the duo.  Gabi followed with Immaculate in October, calling it a “cancel culture anthem,” before releasing Broken Morning in March 2022.  Her debut studio album, Paintings of Me, finally arrived in May.

Niki continued her solo run in 2022 with Pregame, the lead single from her second EP, Ruined My Life.  She followed it with Love & Misery in March 2023, Amnesia in April, and Sorry Than Safe in May.  Ruined My Life was released in July, while Gabi dropped her single Heaven that same month.  After years of building a career together, the twins had successfully proved they could make plenty of noise separately, too.

Facts and Trivia

Niki and Gabi’s careers haven’t been entirely free of controversy, and a few moments have landed them in hot water with audiences.

In September 2019, the sisters faced criticism over a video titled Going to College Dressed as Celebrities Challenge.  The video included a male performer portraying singer Normani, which drew accusations that the portrayal reinforced stereotypes about Black women having masculine features.

The following year, Niki faced another backlash.  In March 2020, during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, she posted a TikTok featuring herself and an Asian manicurist wearing masks while the song “It’s Corona Time” played. Critics called the post racist and insensitive, particularly amid the rise in anti-Asian racism and xenophobia at the time. Niki deleted the video and apologized.

Gabi also came under fire in September 2020 over a video called BFF Income Challenge.  Viewers accused her of flaunting her wealth as she compared her spending with that of a friend, highlighting a difference of thousands of dollars per week.  She later apologized for the video.

Then, in December 2020, Gabi sparked a much more serious controversy after making an old childhood video available through OnlyFans in a way that was widely criticized as inappropriate and misleading.  The platform subsequently suspended her account for violating its terms of service. Gabi initially characterized the situation as trolling before later issuing an apology video on YouTube.

Despite the controversies, the sisters have maintained a substantial entertainment presence.  Their reality web series, Niki and Gabi, produced by AwesomenessTV, follows their lives and careers and has run for five seasons.  With millions of viewers, plenty of creative projects, and the occasional internet firestorm, the twins have certainly experienced the full package that comes with growing up in the very public world of social media.
