Who is Isabeli Fontana?
Isabeli Fontana is a Brazilian supermodel who is most famous her multiple appearances in the Pirelli calendar (2003, 2011,2012, 2013, 2015), the 2003 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and for her appearance in Victoria’s Secret catalogs in 1999. Her appearance in the said catalog at age sixteen was controversial due to Victoria’s Secret stated policy of not using underage models. Isabeli also appeared in eight Victoria’s Secret Fashion shows in 2003, 2005, 2007-2010, 2012 and 2014. Aside from VS, she also has been in campaigns for Armani, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Escada, Emporio Armani, Express, Gap, H&M, Hugo Boss, Oscar de la Renta, Revlon, Tommy Hilfiger, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Valentino, Viktor & Rolf, and L’Orea and many others.
Fontana also appeared (on the covers or editorials) in many international fashion magazines including Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Glamour, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Numero, and Muse.
Her Early Life
Isabeli Bergossi Fontana was born on July 4, 1983, in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, to Maribel Bergossi and Antonio Carlos Fontana. She is of Italian descent. At the age of 13, she was one of the finalists in ‘1996 Elite Model Look’ and the following year, she moved to Milan, Italy to pursue a modeling career (at only 14).
Career Journey
In 1999, just two years after moving to Milan, she already appeared in Victoria’s Secret catalogs. That same year she has also modeled for a number of publications as was signed by was signed by other established brands. Since then, she has been the face of quite a number of advertising campaigns and in 2004, she was featured on the September cover of American Vogue as one of the ‘Models of the Moment’.
Isabeli made her debut, in 2008, on the Forbes The World’s 15 Top-Earning Models list at place 11, having earned $3 million.
In 2011, she was part of the Miss Universe 2011-judging panel as well as appearing (for her 2nd time) in the Pirelli calendar, which features models posing as Greek and Roman gods.
In February 2012, she again appeared on the Forbes as The World’s 15 Top-Earning Models list at no. 11. Other models like Alessandra Ambrosio, Doutzen Kroes, Miranda Kerr, and Izabel Goulart were also on the list.
In 2014, Isabeli became the face of Viktor and Rolf’s fragrance Flowerbomb and the following year, as the face of Bvlgari’s Goldea.
Facts and Trivia
She was married to model Álvaro Jacomossi in 2000 but went their separate ways in 2004. They have a son, Zion, who was born in 2003. She then married actor and model Henri Castelli on December 10, 2005. Their son, Lucas, was born on 23 October 2006 in São Paulo.
Isabeli completed her high school diploma in 2006 when she was pregnant with her second child.
Isabeli and Henri divorced in 2007. She then entered a relationship with Rohan Marley but their engagement ended in early 2013. Afterward, she began dating Brazilian composer, Diego Ferrero in 2013. In September 2014, they got engaged. They have been married since August 10, 2016.
