Who is Maggie Wilson
Maggie is a British-Filipino actress, beauty queen, and reality television personality who was crowned Binibining Pilipinas-World and represented the Philippines in the 57th Miss World pageant on December 1, 2007. She was also an MTV VJ, the first Philippine beauty pageant titleholder to become one.
Maggie has been featured on the cover of several magazines such as Candy, Chalk, Manual, FHM (Philippines), UNO, Metro Society, Northern Living, Enclaves, and Lifestyle Asia. She also won the fifth season of The Amazing Race Asia with Parul Shah in 2016.
Her Early Life
Margaret “Maggie” Nales Wilson-Consunji was born March 15, 1989, in the Philippines but raised in Saudi Arabia. She is of Scottish, Irish, Filipino, Spanish, and Chinese descent. Maggie was born to Sonia Nales from San Enrique, Negros Occidental and Robert James “Bob” Wilson from Glasgow, Scotland. She has a sister named Elizabeth who is 2 years younger.
In 2006, MTV (Philippines) launched Maggie as part of their roster of VJ’s (Video Jockey). Where she hosted the show, MTV Time Out, as well concerts featuring of Rihanna, Chris Brown, and Christina Aguilera to name a few. She has interviewed Incubus, Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, Harry Connick Jr., and many more. She was a VJ until 2010.
In 2007, Maggie Wilson won Binibining Pilipinas World (Miss World Philippines). She was 17 years old at the time.
As an actress, before entering into beauty pageants, she made her first appearance in Kakabakaba Adventures. She then played minor roles in GMA shows including Darna, Encantadia, Asian Treasures, Una Kang Naging Akin, and Joaquin Bordado, until in 2009 she reprised the major role of Babaeng Linta in the 2009 Darna TV series. Darna was Wilson’s first time playing a major villain; she previously played a minor villain in the 2005 version of Darna, which starred Angel Locsin. Maggie was also a part of the main cast in Saang Sulok ng Langit (2005), where she was nominated as Best TV Villain. She then appeared in My Guardian Abby (2006) and Beauty Queen (2010). Aside from acting, she also hosted Q-11’s Fit & Fab, with fellow beauty pageant titleholder Anna Theresa Licaros in season one and fellow MTV VJ Kat Alano in season two.
Maggie has also appeared in several TV commercials and advertisements for the Taiwan Tourism Board, Bench, Globe Telecom, Greenwich, Cream Silk, Tresemme, Antica Murrina, Happy Skin & Traveloka, and Luminisce Skin.
In March 2017, Wilson was cast as the main host for the Philippines’ Next Top Model cycle 3 on TV5.
Facts and Trivia
After her crowning as Bb. Pilipinas World 2007, one columnist allegedly questioned her qualifications for not being a high school graduate, which is one of the requirements for joining the pageant. A former Binibining Pilipinas-World titleholder and Miss World 1993 finalist, Ruffa Gutierrez, defended Wilson in a television interview, saying that the latter was chosen because she is tall, stunningly pretty, and smart.
Maggie married real estate mogul Victor B. Consunji in December 2010 at Misibis Bay Resort and Casino, Albay. In October 2018, The couple opened Casa Consunji, a furniture and decor store.
Her interests, aside from modeling, include art, history, and rock music.
Maggie made history in November 2017 when she became the first Filipino woman to complete a marathon in Antarctica.
Currently, Wilson co-hosts Beached, a travel show on Metro Channel with Marc Saw Nelson.
