Katie Cleary was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 21, 1981. Katie had a dream of becoming a Hollywood actress since she was a child. After years of juggling high school and modeling in Chicago, she earned a track scholarship to a Liberal Arts College in Wisconsin. Katie earned a Business and Marketing degree from Carthage University while also working as a model part-time.
Katie began working in real estate in Chicago in the summer of 2004, after graduating from college. In the meantime, she enrolled in acting classes and worked on four different film sets while still modeling. Katie wanted to learn everything she could about the film industry before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams.
Career Journey
Katie’s first break in the entertainment industry came while she was still in college when she appeared on the hit TV show “America’s Next Top Model” Season 1. She returned to Wisconsin after the show to finish her degree and earn enough money selling real estate to move to Los Angeles. Katie landed the role of briefcase beauty #11 on NBC’s hit show “Deal or No Deal” within weeks of moving to Los Angeles, a role she would hold for over four years. She has worked as an on-camera host for the TV Guide Channel, E! News Now and the HDTV travel show “Get Out”
Katie has worked on films such as “The Break Up,” “Lake House,” and her most recent film project, “Iron Man 2,” as well as TV shows such as “CSI NY,” “Las Vegas,” “Entourage,” “Rules of Engagement,” “Chuck,” and “Working Class.” She was also the lead in “Heckel U,” a web series in collaboration with CBS, starring opposite Tom Arnold. Katie is currently in pre-production on three films.

Katie’s vision is of a world where all animals live in harmony and are protected from harmful human intervention. Peace 4 Animals assists in the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of domestic animals. It also educates the public on the importance of rescuing animals from local shelters rather than purchasing them from breeders or pet stores.
Katie is also the creator and executive producer of the award-winning documentary “Give Me Shelter” on Netflix. The film is about people who devote their lives to rescuing domestic, wild, and exotic animals, as well as those who raise awareness about the world’s most pressing animal welfare issues. “Give Me Shelter” debuted on Netflix on May 1, 2015, after being released on February 24, 2015.
Katie is also the founder and producer of the World Animal News network, which can be found on the popular animal news website WorldAnimalNews.com. WAN covers the most recent breaking animal welfare issues from around the world, with guests ranging from top animal welfare organizations to animal experts and celebrities who are passionate about raising awareness for important animal issues.
Katie’s goal with her philanthropic work is to make a positive difference in the world by protecting the planet and its precious species so that we can all live in peace together. She hopes to one day open the “Peace 4 Animals” Reserve in South Africa to rescue and rehabilitate endangered species.
