Who is Lauren Jauregui?

Lauren is an American pop artist and former member of the girl group Fifth Harmony. Her band made its debut on the second season of the American version of the singing competition The X Factor. She and the other members of Fifth Harmony decided to split up in 2018 to pursue solo careers.

Her Early Life

Lauren Michelle Jauregui was born in Miami, Florida on June 27, 1996, to Clara Jauregui (née Morgado) and Michael “Mike” Jauregui. She is the eldest of three children and has attended the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart since seventh grade. Her father is a plant manager, and her mother is a teacher who immigrated to the United States after Fidel Castro took power. Lauren is of Cuban and Spanish ancestry. Jauregui, the eldest of three siblings, attended a co-ed Catholic school from pre-K through sixth grade. She then attended Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls Catholic college preparatory school in Miami, on an academic scholarship. She was in the school’s international baccalaureate program and took part in the talent show and softball team.

Lauren enjoyed “constantly creating” through the arts throughout her school years, singing, writing, dancing, choreographing, playing piano, and painting. She was raised on R&B, alternative rock, singer-songwriters, vocalists, pop, Latin music, and soul from the 1990s. Soul, R&B, rock, alternative, pop, and Latin music, according to Jauregui, heavily influenced her music. According to her, she is “mostly inspired by songwriters” and appreciates “truth and authenticity”. Career Journey

Lauren auditioned for The X Factor (2011) in 2012, and after being eliminated as a solo artist in the second televised round of the competition, Lauren was called back together with four other female contestants to form Fifth Harmony, which was born after several name changes. Following the group’s indefinite hiatus in March 2018, Jauregui released his solo debut single, Lauren Jauregui: Expectations (2018), on October 24 of the same year, reaching number one on the US Pop chart.

Lauren released the song “More Than That” in 2019. She contributed “Invisible Chains” to the soundtrack of the film Birds of Prey (2020), as well as the Tainy-produced Latin urban song “Lento” and the song “50ft” in 2020. Lauren is a political activist who participates in protests. Since the 2016 US presidential election, she has written several open letters criticizing Donald Trump and his policies, including the “Muslim ban,” which she calls “disrespectful to humanity.”

In November 2016, Billboard published an open letter she wrote to Trump voters in which she discussed the ramifications of Trump’s campaign and election and stated, “I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman, and I am so proud of it.” Lauren has stated that she is comfortable with her sexual fluidity. She has also discussed LGBTQ issues. Lauren expressed support for the Palestinian people and called for a cease-fire in the 2023 Israel-Hamas war in October 2023.
