Who is Sydney Sweeney?

Sydney Sweeney is an American actress best known for playing Emaline Addario in the web television series Everything Sucks!’ and Haley Caren in the web series ‘In The Vault.’  She began her acting career in 2009 and gained attention in the short film ‘Takeo,’ which earned her the ‘Best Actress’ award at the ‘New York International Film Festival.’  Over the years, she has appeared in several full-length films as well as several short films.

She was born on September 12, 1997, in Spokane, Washington, to Scott Sweeney and Lisa Mudd Sweeney.  She became interested in acting around the age of twelve.  Her younger brother, Trent Sweeney, is also an aspiring actor.

Sydney made her acting debut in 2009.  On October 12, the same year, she appeared as Little Girl in Episode 4 of Season 4 of the American science fiction television drama series ‘Heroes’ titled ‘Hysterical Blindness.’

On November 18, 2009, she appeared as Dani Forester in a single episode of the popular American police procedural crime drama television series ‘Criminal Minds’ titled ‘Outfoxed.’

She originally gained notoriety as Samantha Wright in the short thriller film ‘Takeo’, which was released on January 12, 2010.  Her outstanding performance in it garnered her the Best Actress award at the New York International Film Festival.  That year, she also appeared as Lost Girl in the short film ‘Night Blind.’

In 2010, she also appeared in a couple of big-screen films.  These include Lisa in the zombie comedy ‘ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction’; Young Alice in the American supernatural psychological horror film ‘The Ward’; and Sarah Detzer in the American drama film ‘The Opium Eater.’

Sydney plays Kayla Edwards in the first episode of the American police procedural drama television series ‘Chase’, titled ‘Pilot’ (2010) on NBC.  She also appeared as Girl in the October 25 episode ‘How Much Is That Liam in the Window’ of the American adolescent drama television series ‘90210.’

On June 20, the following year, she appeared in the episode named ‘Swords and Magic’ from the Disney XD-aired American martial arts-inspired comedic television series ‘Kickin’ It.’  She also appeared in the television movie ‘The Bling Ring’ as Izzy Fishman.

She starred as Emily in the American 3D science fiction monster horror film ‘Spiders 3D’, which was released on February 8, 2013.

Sydney played Julia in the martial arts film ‘The Martial Arts Kid’, which was released on September 18, 2015.  Sydney’s other acting roles that year included Emma in the film Stolen From Suburbia, Leah in the short film Love Made Visible, and Little Janey Hutchins in the short film The Unborn.

Sydney landed the starring role of Kelsey Connors in the Harvey Lowry-directed thriller film ‘Cassidy Way’ (2016).  That year she also played the lead role of Hailey Summers in the May 6 released action horror film ‘The Horde’ directed by Jared Cohn.

In 2017, she played one of her most noteworthy parts, Haley Caren, in the online series ‘In the Vault.’  She appeared in seven episodes.  That year, she also appeared as Willa in the episode ‘Til Death Do Us Part’ of the American teen drama mystery thriller television series ‘Pretty Little Liars’, which aired on June 27.  She also voiced Madeline Rayon in the animated TV series ‘Monster School Animation’ in the episode titled ‘Welcome to Monster School.’

Sydney plays Ally in the thriller film ‘Relentless’, written and directed by Lance Tracy, which was released on February 6, 2018.

Ben York Jones and Michael Mohan produced the American comedy-drama web television series Everything Sucks!’, which aired on Netflix on February 16, 2018, and featured her as one of the main characters, Emaline Addario.  She appeared in all ten episodes of the series and received mixed to excellent reviews from critics, however, it was canceled by Netflix after one season.

On April 15, 2018, she starred as Samantha in the comedic thriller TV film ‘The Wrong Daughter’.  That year, she also appeared in the television short ‘Manic’ as Missy ‘Paper Girl’.  She played Ashley in the April 21, 2018, drama and horror thriller film ‘Tell Me Your Name.’

Season 2 of the web television series ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ premiered on Hulu on April 25, 2018, with her playing the recurring role of Eden.

Sydney plays Shooting Star in the David Robert Mitchell-written and directed American neo-noir comedy-drama film ‘Under the Silver Lake’, which stars Andrew Garfield, Topher Grace, and Riley Keough.  The film’s world debut took place on May 15, 2018, at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.  A24 released the film on December 7, 2018.

Sydney’s other project, the drama thriller ‘Clementine’, written and directed by Lara Gallagher, starred her as Lana.

Sydney also plays the recurring character of Alice in the upcoming American TV psychological thriller miniseries “Sharp Objects,” which is based on Gillian Flynn’s first novel of the same name.  The miniseries, consisting of eight episodes, premiered on HBO on July 8, 2018.
