Wanda is an Argentine model, reality TV star, actress, and composer. She is well known for being the wife of Argentine footballer Mauro Icardi.
Wanda made her stage debut as a second vedette in the revue ‘Humor en Custodia’ during the 2005-2006 summer theater season, and she then starred in Jorge Corona’s revue ‘King Corona’. She also took part in ‘El Musical de tus Sueños’ and ‘Patinando por un Sueño’. She, on the other hand, rose to prominence for her contentious and somewhat scandalous marriage to Mauro Icardi, following the divorce of Argentine player Maxi López, Icardi’s former Sampdoria teammate.
Her Early Life
Wanda Solange Nara was born on December 10, 1986, in Vicente López, Buenos Aires, Argentina, to middle-class parents Andrés Nara and Nora Colosimo. Her younger sister, Zaira Nara, is an Argentine model and television host.
Career Journey
Wanda made her stage debut as a second vedette in the revue ‘Humor en Custodia’ during the 2005-2006 summer theatre season. She then appeared as a vedette in comedian Jorge Corona’s revue ‘King Corona’ during the 2006-2007 summer theatrical season. Her time with the revue, however, was brief; she quit after a few months due to claimed mistreatment by Corona and his wife.
She appeared as La Novicia Bernarda in one episode of the series ‘Casados con hijos’ in 2006. She participated in the ‘Patinando Por un Sueño’ (Ice-Skating for a Dream) contest, which was broadcast on Channel 13 on August 9, 2007, as a section of the popular Argentine television program ‘Showmatch.’ She was eliminated in the 11th week, and Ximena Capristo won the contest.
In 2009, she competed in a Showmatch contest called ‘El Musical de tus Sueños’ (‘The Musical of your Dreams’). Wanda was eliminated as the fifth competitor in ‘El Musical de tus Sueños.’ She also participated in ‘Patinando 2011,’ but had to leave midway due to pregnancy and accompanying her husband Maxi López to Italy.
Facts and Trivia
Wanda married Maxi López, an Argentine professional footballer, on May 28, 2008. She has three kids with López: Valentino Gastón López (born January 25, 2009), Constantino López (born December 18, 2010), and Benedicto López (born February 20, 2012).
Wanda and López’s marriage ended in divorce in 2013. López claimed Wanda was having an extramarital affair, while she accused López of serial marital infidelity. In the end, the magistrates ruled in Wanda’s favor.
Wanda returned to Buenos Aires with her sons. She started a relationship with Argentine striker Mauro Icardi, a former Sampdoria colleague of López who now captains Internazionale. She met Icardi during her wedding to López.
While her friendship with Icardi grew, the two players faced off in an April 2014 ‘Serie A’ match between ‘Internazionale’ and ‘Sampdoria.’ During the game, López declined to shake hands with Icardi. The press eventually dubbed the encounter the “Wanda Derby.” López reprised the deed a few years later in a ‘Serie A’ match where he played for ‘Torino’ and Icardi played for ‘Internazionale.’
Wanda married Icardi on May 27, 2014, at a simple ceremony in Buenos Aires. On June 7, 2014, the couple hosted a large wedding reception. Wanda has two kids with Icardi: Francesca Icardi (born January 19, 2015) and Isabella Icardi (born October 27, 2016).
The marriage to Icardi drew a lot of ire from many Argentines, and he was frequently highlighted in Argentine tabloids. Such hostility is thought to have influenced his international football career to some extent.
Argentine icon Diego Maradona, who was romantically linked to Wanda at one point, also engaged in furious Twitter discussions with Icardi following his marriage to Wanda.
On October 11, 2016, Icardi released his autobiography ‘Sempre Avanti’ (Always Forward), in which he detailed how he became close to Wanda while she was still married to Lopez. He also mentioned that Wanda’s relationship with Lopez was almost finished by that point.
