Who is Yassi Pressman?
Yassi, a Hong Kong-born actress of British and Filipina origin, rose to prominence as a television personality, model, social media star, and singer/dancer. She is also a television journalist and news anchor in the Philippines, well known for her role as Alyana Arevalo on the ABS-CBN blockbuster series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. She returned to GMA Network in 2023, playing Vanessa “Bane” Bartolome on Black Rider.
Her Early Life
On May 11, 1995, Yassi was born in Hong Kong as Yasmin Isabel Pressman to parents Ronnie Pressman and Belcy Dalloran Yasto. Her second name, Isabel, refers to her mother’s home province. Yassi has four sisters named Abby, Cara, Siobhan, and Issa.
Yassi began acting at the age of five, first on the ABS-CBN series Gulong ng Palad and then as a dancer on the GMA Network’s SOP Fully Charged.
Career Journey
Yassi frequently appears in television series, variety shows, local blockbuster movies, and commercial endorsement advertisements. She began appearing in television ads at the age of six, with her first being for Colgate in 2001. In 2006, she played the young Luisa in the ABS-CBN drama series Gulong ng Palad. In 2009, she became a regular GMA Network artist as one of SOP’s female dancers. She became known as the “Princess of the Dance Floor” of Party Pilipinas. When SOP was replaced by Party Pilipinas, Pressman joined Sayaw Pilipinas.
She portrays Caitlin in the 2011 movie Tween Academy: Class of 2012. In 2013, she struck a co-management agreement with Viva Artists Agency. Yassi was also a top VJ at MTV, appearing in numerous web shorts. The next year, she was cast as Lorraine “Lory” Keet in the film Diary ng Panget, co-starring Andre Paras. Pressman also appeared as Audrey Dela Cruz in the films Talk Back and You’re Dead, alongside Nadine Lustre and James Reid.
In 2016, Yassi joined ABS-CBN as a housemate on Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7. She also became a frequent performer in ASAP and appeared in the longest-running teleserye on Philippine television, an adaptation of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Facts and Trivia
Every time Yassi celebrates a birthday or a holiday, she organizes various charitable projects. In July 2022, Yassi revealed her relationship with businessman Jon Semira.
Her father, Ronnie, died on February 6, 2020, at the age of 90, from a variety of old-age issues.
