Who is Lili Simmons?

Lili is an American actress and model best known for her roles in TV series like Banshee, Ray Donovan, and Gotham. She first gained widespread recognition for playing Rebecca Bowman in Banshee (2013–2016), a provocative and complex role that showcased her acting range. She later portrayed Natalie James in Ray Donovan and played Selina Kyle/Catwoman (adult version) in the final episode of Gotham.

Before acting, Simmons started as a model for brands like Bebe and Roxy. She has since built a strong reputation in TV and film, often taking on roles in crime dramas, thrillers, and action-packed series.

Her Early Life

Lili Marie Simmons was born July 23, 1993, in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, San Diego County, California. At the age of 15, Lili was found by talent manager Kate Linden. She has mixed ancestry (Swedish, Danish, Dutch, and Norwegian).

“I don’t know if I was popular in high school. My school was actually not really clique-y, which was nice. I went to a very artsy school, so everyone was kind of friends with each other. I was trying to be popular more, like, in junior high and elementary school and dealt with all that backstabbing and drama.”

Career Journey

Lili began her career as a Ford Model, and she has also modeled for Bebe Stores, Roxy, J.C. Penney, and Saturn. She began acting in 2010 with the web series Hollywood Is Like High School with Money, based on the same-named book, where she played Quinn Whitaker. Lili also starred in an episode of the Disney XD series Zeke and Luther, followed by the 2011 Disney Channel Original Movie Geek Charming. That same year, she played a minor appearance in an episode of the sitcom Mr. Sunshine.

Lili appeared in the film Fat Kid Rules the World in 2012, as well as a guest appearance on Jane By Design. In 2013, she starred in an episode of Vegas and began her role as Rebecca Bowman, a rebellious Amish girl on the Cinemax series Banshee.

Lili auditioned for the role of Deva Hopewell, but: “They said, ‘She’s too old or too sexy’ or whatever”. While in Philadelphia for her grandmother’s burial, the producers requested her to return to New York to read for Rebecca, which she did and was cast. In March of that year, she was featured in a Maxim magazine photo shoot.

Lili played ‘Natalie James,’ a movie star, in the fifth season of ‘Showtime’ criminal thriller ‘Ray Donovan’ (2017). She starred in the 2017 thriller film ‘Bad Match.’ The film follows ‘Harris,’ an online dating fanatic, who meets ‘Riley,’ an enigmatic woman with something ominous to hide, played by Simmons. In 2018, she played ‘Lila Stanton’ in the horror series ‘The Purge.’

In 2022, she played a pool shark In the independent feature film Double Down South. The film was released in 2024 which also saw her complete the final season of Power Book IV: Force.

Facts and Trivia

Lili attributes her professional success to her mother. According to her, in the early stages of her career, she was tempted to take on any and all job that came her way in order to construct a CV, but her mother told her to be patient and choose her work carefully.
