Stella Maxwell

Stella is gorgeous beyond words, and her body can end friendships.  So yeah, another feature for a woman who is worth more than one article.  Let us get to know her more and ogle at how out of this world her hotness is.  You will enjoy this one, we promise.

Who is Stella Maxwell

Stella is a model of Irish and New Zealand heritage, best known for her work as a Victoria’s Secret Angel.  Born in Belgium to an Irish family, she was the youngest of four siblings.  Her father’s career as a diplomat meant the family moved frequently, and when Stella was 14, they settled in New Zealand.

Her modeling journey has taken her around the world, walking the runway for top designers like Tommy Hilfiger, Brandon Maxwell, Marc Jacobs, and Tory Burch.  Beyond the catwalk, Stella has also made her mark in fashion collaborations.  She teamed up with the French brand The Kooples to launch a handbag line that even carries her name, blending style and personal flair into every piece.

Her Early Life

Stella Maynes Maxwell was born on May 15, 1990, in Brussels, Belgium, to Irish parents, Stella Maynes and Maurice Maxwell.  Stella grew up in a family shaped by global experiences. Her father worked as the head of delegation for the European Commission, a role that kept the family on the move.

Although their heritage was unmistakably Irish, Stella once shared that they didn’t spend much time in Ireland due to her father’s diplomatic assignments.  Her early years and education began in Belgium, where her father’s work had brought the family at the time.

Stella attended the European School, Brussels II, where strict uniforms were the norm.  Despite the formal setting, she was a typical young girl—fun-loving, full of energy, and always ready with a goofy joke to share with her friends.  As she grew older, though, Stella began to notice her striking looks and developed a fascination with fashion.  She spent hours flipping through magazines, dreaming of one day becoming a model.

At 13, Stella’s life took a new turn when her family moved to Canberra, Australia.  They stayed for a year before relocating once more—this time to Wellington, New Zealand, where they finally put down roots.  Stella continued her education at Queen Margaret College before going on to study psychology at the University of Otago.

Career Journey

While studying at university, Stella’s life took an unexpected turn—she was discovered by a modeling agent who worked in Dunedin.  One moment she was hitting the books for her psychology degree, and the next she was striking poses for a photo shoot with Aliana McDaniel.  Those test shots started making the rounds, and before she knew it, the offers started rolling in from major fashion brands.  Turns out, her side hustle was about to become center stage.

By 2008, Stella was officially in the fashion game, working with top designers like Charles Anastase and Mara Hoffman.  She hit the runway for brands like Luella and Fashion East, showing off their autumn-spring collections with the kind of effortless cool only she could pull off.

One of her first big breaks?  A photo shoot with Vogue.  Sure, she was a back-up model for Kate Moss—but hey, sharing a frame with a fashion icon isn’t a bad way to start your career!

By 2010, Stella’s modeling career was picking up serious momentum.  She began landing magazine gigs across Europe and Japan, with early features in Elle Italy and Elle Belgium.  Her growing popularity caught the attention of international modeling agencies, and she soon signed with Trump Model Management, the agency owned by Donald Trump at the time.

Chasing bigger opportunities, Stella moved to Paris, gave herself a bold short haircut, and dove headfirst into preparing for the European Fashion Weeks.  It paid off. In the early 2010s, her career took a major leap forward with high-profile work for brands like Seuss, Alexander McQueen, H&M, and Urban Outfitters—firmly cementing her status as a rising star in the fashion world.

In 2011, Stella grabbed headlines when she walked in the Concept Korea Spring/Summer fashion show, styled in a playful, Snow White-meets-Lolita look.  But the runway had other plans—she took a tumble during the show, turning a high-fashion moment into a humbling one.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t her only runway mishap. In 2016, she had another fall while modeling in the Miu Miu Resort fashion show.  Still, Stella kept strutting forward, landing gigs with major designers like Jeremy Scott for Moschino and Marc Jacobs.

Behind the scenes, though, she was navigating agency drama. Unhappy with her representation, she bounced between agencies before ultimately parting ways with Trump Model Management.  She eventually signed with Why Not Model Management, aiming for a fresh start and better support as her career continued to rise.

Stella’s big break came in 2014 when she landed a coveted spot in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show—a dream gig for just about every model.  With the show broadcast in 190 countries, it was her moment to shine on a global stage.  A year later, she officially earned her wings as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, solidifying her place among the industry’s elite.

From there, her career skyrocketed. Stella graced the pages of Vogue—not just once, but in its Japanese, French, Thai, Spanish, German, and Turkish editions.  She also popped up in other top-tier fashion mags like Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, and Madame Figaro.

On the runway, she strutted for some of fashion’s biggest names, including Alberta Ferretti, Issey Miyake, Max Mara, and Thierry Mugler—proving she could work it on catwalks from Milan to Paris and everywhere in between.

Stella’s talents go well beyond the runway.  She’s been the face of major ad campaigns for brands like Puma, Mango, Max Factor, Versace, and River Island—bringing her signature edge and charm to every shoot.

She also dipped into the world of design, teaming up with French fashion brand The Kooples to launch a designer handbag line that proudly bears her name.

In 2016, Stella hit a major pop culture milestone by topping the Maxim Hot 100 list, earning global recognition for both her style and star power.

A couple of years later, she stepped into acting with a small, uncredited role in the 2018 biographical drama JT LeRoy—a quiet debut, but a sign she’s not afraid to explore new creative territory.

Facts and Trivia

Stella Maxwell’s love life has made its fair share of headlines.  She dated actor Liam Hemsworth back in 2009, and the two were together until 2013.

Open about her bisexuality, Stella reportedly dated Miley Cyrus in 2015.  The two were spotted together at several events and weren’t shy about sharing cute (and sometimes wild) snapshots on social media.

In 2016, she began dating actress Kristen Stewart.  Their relationship made waves, especially in 2017 when they were caught kissing in a car and later famously (and hilariously) gatecrashed a lesbian wedding in Canada.  Talk about making an entrance.

Outside of the spotlight, Stella stays grounded.  She’s proud of her Irish roots and makes it a point to visit Ireland at least twice a year.  In her downtime, she dabbles in acting and makes music as a hobby, proving she’s not just a pretty face, but a creative spirit through and through.

Stella is a big animal lover and doesn’t hesitate to show it—she’s actively involved in supporting animal rights causes and organizations.  Basically, if there’s a furry friend in need, she’s there.

On top of that, Stella’s got some serious language skills.  She’s fluent in English, French, and Spanish, which definitely comes in handy when she’s jet-setting around the world or charming fans in multiple countries.
