Who is Maia Reficco
Maia Reficco is an American-Argentine actress and singer who’s been making waves on both TV and stage. She first won over audiences as Kally Ponce in Nickelodeon Latin America’s hit series Kally’s Mashup, then later turned up the suspense as Noa Olivar in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin—the fourth installment of the iconic franchise.
In 2024, Maia leveled up yet again, making her Broadway debut in Hadestown as Eurydice, starring opposite Jordan Fisher. From teen TV to the bright lights of Broadway, she’s proving she can do it all.
Her Early Life
Maia Reficco’s story begins in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was born on July 14, 2000. But her journey to the spotlight really took shape in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she moved with her family at the age of four. Music surrounded her from the start. By the time most kids were still mastering the alphabet, Maia was already singing and picking up instruments—guitar, piano, saxophone, ukulele—you name it, she tried it.
It’s no surprise, given her family background. Her mother, Katie Viqueira, is a professional singer and vocal coach who runs her own Center for Vocal Art, while her father, Ezequiel Reficco, is a professor at the University of Los Andes in Bogotá. Even her younger brother, Joaquín, shares the stage-worthy gene as a singer himself. To top it all off, Maia also spent 11 years perfecting acrobatics, as if she wasn’t already juggling enough talents.
At 15, she took her biggest leap yet—literally crossing continents for music. She moved to Los Angeles and stayed with Grammy-winning songwriter Claudia Brant. There, she trained under Eric Vetro, the legendary vocal coach behind powerhouse names like Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, and Shawn Mendes. Later, she returned to Boston for a five-week summer program at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. She didn’t just blend in—she stood out, earning a scholarship and cementing her path toward a career in the arts.
Career Journey
Maia Reficco’s big break came in the most modern way possible—through Instagram. Grammy-winning songwriter Claudia Brant, who had been mentoring Maia, sent the covers Maia had been posting online to the production team of a new Nickelodeon Latin America series. They were impressed enough to call her in for an audition. Maia showed up with Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman and walked out with the lead role of Kally Ponce in Kally’s Mashup.
From there, life moved fast. She signed with Deep Well Records, headed to Miami to record music for the show, and made her first major stage appearance at the Kids’ Choice Awards Argentina in October 2017, where she performed the series’ theme song Key of Life.
By 2018, Maia wasn’t just acting—she was carving out her own lane in music. She performed at the Kids’ Choice Awards Mexico and Argentina, belting out fan favorites like World’s Collide and Unísono with her castmates, and later teamed up with Alex Hoyer and Lalo Brito for another performance at Meus Prêmios Nick in Brazil. That year, she also confirmed to Billboard Argentina that she was working on her debut solo album, an all-English pop and R&B project backed by a major label. And yes, fans were already buzzing.
After making her mark in Latin America, Maia turned her sights to Hollywood. In 2022, she popped up in Netflix’s dark teen comedy Do Revenge before taking on one of her most talked-about roles yet: Noa Olivar in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on HBO Max, adding suspense and edge to her growing resume.
Facts and Trivia
Maia Reficco made franchise history as the very first Latine “Liar” in Pretty Little Liars. The role was extra special for her—she grew up such a huge fan of the original series that, for one of her birthdays, she even asked to celebrate with a visit to the Warner Bros. set.
Her audition for the show didn’t go perfectly—she’s admitted she actually messed up. But in true “stars-are-meant-to-shine” fashion, that mistake ended up working in her favor, landing her the role of Noa Olivar.
Like her character, Maia is also athletic. Noa might be a track star, but Maia spent years as a gymnast, bringing her own kind of discipline and strength to the part.
Offscreen, Maia has been just as open and real. She identifies as queer and is currently in a relationship with actor Tom Francis.
Her Body Measurements
Maia stands 5 feet, 4 inches and she rocks a 33-26-35 figure.
