Career Journey

Janella Salvador’s love for the performing arts started early.  By 2008, she was already representing the Philippines at an international trade fair in Seoul, Korea, and soon after, she was performing on stage in venues like the Meralco Theater.  Her first lead role came in the school musical Paul! Paul!—a hint of the bright future ahead.  A guest appearance on Eat Bulaga’s Sa Pula, Sa Puti caught the attention of talent managers Manny Valera and Johnny Manahan of Star Magic, who quickly signed her up.

Her television debut came in 2012 with the daytime hit Be Careful With My Heart. Playing Nikki Grace Lim, the witty, Taglish-speaking middle daughter, Janella became a household name and even picked up newcomer awards along the way.  In 2013, she was officially launched as part of Star Magic Circle, and the following year she signed with Regal Entertainment and Star Cinema, expanding her career into film.

Her first leading role arrived in 2015 with ABS-CBN’s Oh My G!, where she played an orphan grappling with faith.  That same year, she released her self-titled debut album, which went platinum, and made her big-screen debut in Jun Lana’s Haunted Mansion.  The horror film became a top-grosser at the Metro Manila Film Festival and earned her the “New Actress of the Year” award.

Her career has also taken her international.  In 2023, she wrapped filming in Hong Kong for Under Parallel Skies, a romance movie opposite Thai star Win Metawin, directed by Kita Kita’s Sigrid Andrea Bernardo. The film premiered at the 17th Asian Film Awards before rolling out in theaters across the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and several other countries in 2024.
