You’ll probably tell yourself you’re just going to check out one movie, YouTube video, or reel.  Sure. And we’re all going to believe that.

So, before you lose another hour scrolling through her clips, read on and get to know the star behind the screen.  You might as well become a fan properly.  Let’s go.

Who is Candela Vetrano

Candela Vetrano is an Argentine actress, model, and fashion designer who has built a name for herself across television, fashion, and entertainment.  She became particularly well known for her work in popular youth series such as Casi Ángeles, earning a loyal following along the way.  Apparently, acting wasn’t enough—she decided to add modeling and fashion design to the résumé, too.  Multitasking, but make it glamorous.

Her Early Life

María Candela Vetrano was born on August 9, 1991, in Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires, Argentina.  She is the daughter of Héctor Vetrano and María Victoria Vega and grew up with a brother and two twin sisters.  So, family life was never exactly short on company—or, presumably, opportunities to lose the remote.

Career Journey

Candela Vetrano started training in the performing arts at a young age, studying singing, theater, musical comedy, and dance.  Her first television appearance came on Agrandadytos, giving her an early taste of the screen before her acting career really got moving.

In 2003, she made her acting debut as Estrella in the series Rincón de luz.  Three years later, she joined the cast of the youth series Chiquititas Sin Fin, playing Valeria San Simón.  She then landed one of her most recognizable roles in 2007, joining Casi Ángeles as Estefanía Elordi Rinaldi.  Vetrano remained with the series through 2010, becoming a familiar face to a generation of young Argentine viewers.

Her next major opportunity came with Supertorpe, a co-production between Disney Channel Latin America and Utopia, made in collaboration with Telefe. Filming began in early 2011, and the series premiered on July 18 that year.  Vetrano starred as Poly Truper, the central character, and carried the series through its two-season run, which ended in May 2012.  Apparently, one youth series at a time was simply not enough.

In January 2013, producer Sebastián Ortega cast Vetrano as the young lead in the television fiction Los Vecinos en Guerra.  She followed that with the role of Milagros “Mili” Villa in Pol-ka’s Noche y día, which aired on Canal 13 from 2014 to 2015.

Vetrano continued expanding her résumé in 2017, joining the cast of Cuéntame cómo pasó on TV Pública.  Two years later, she appeared in the popular historical drama Argentina, tierra de amor y venganza, adding another major television credit to a career that had already taken her from children’s programming to some of Argentina’s biggest youth and primetime productions.

From an early appearance on television to starring roles in hit youth series and major dramas, Vetrano has spent years proving that she was never planning to stay in just one corner of the entertainment world.

Facts and Trivia

Candela Vetrano kicked off her career in 2002 by modeling for Mimo & Co., but she clearly had bigger retail ambitions.  Fast forward to January 2013, and she launched Hey! Mona—a clothing line aimed squarely at teenage girls who want to look effortlessly cool.  If you are looking to snag a piece, you will have to skip the mall; the brand lives entirely online, proving Candela was ahead of the e-commerce curve.

When it comes to her love life, Candela’s dating timeline reads like a nostalgic tour of Argentine television.  She spent three years with actor Agustín Sierra (2008–2010), followed by a brief stint with Lucas Minuto (2011–2012), and a year-long romance with actor Gastón Soffritti (2013–2014).

But in 2015, she found her true match in actor Andres Gil, and they have been going strong ever since.  After nearly a decade together, Candela shook up the internet in June 2024 by announcing she was pregnant with their first child.  The grand finale arrived on November 14, 2024, when she gave birth to a baby boy.  The couple named him Pino Gil Vetrano—a unique name that ensures he is destined to either be an artist or a very stylish architect.
