Tara Sutaria’s Beauty Is Just Heavenly

Tara Sutaria is the kind of Indian superstar who seems determined to make having multiple talents look annoyingly effortless.  She sings, she acts, and she models with the confidence of someone who knows exactly where the camera is at all times.

Basically, one career lane wasn’t going to cut it.  With her talent, glamour, and undeniable screen presence, Sutaria is well worth your attention.  So, let’s get to know the actress and singer behind all that star power (and hotness).

Who is Tara Sutaria

Tara Sutaria is an Indian actress and singer who primarily works in Hindi films.  She began her career as a singer on Disney India’s reality show Big Bada Boom in 2010 before making the jump to acting in the channel’s sitcoms The Suite Life of Karan and Kabir (2012) and Oye Jassie (2013).  Apparently, singing wasn’t enough.

Sutaria made her film debut in 2019 with Student of the Year 2, earning the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.  She went on to play leading roles in the action films Marjaavaan (2019) and Ek Villain Returns (2022), before switching things up with the survival thriller Apurva (2023).  In 2026, she expanded beyond Hindi cinema with the Kannada action film Toxic—because apparently, one film industry wasn’t keeping her busy enough.

Her Early Life

Tara Sutaria was born on November 19, 1995, in Mumbai, India.  Her father, Himanshu Sutaria, is Hindu, while her mother, Tina Sutaria, is Zoroastrian and belongs to the Parsi community.  Her name means “star” in Sanskrit, which feels rather on-brand for someone who would eventually end up in show business.

Tara has a twin sister, Pia, and the two trained together in classical ballet, modern dance, and Latin American dance.  Their training included studies with the School of Classical Ballet and Western Dance, as well as the Royal Academy of Dance and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in the United Kingdom. Casual extracurriculars, apparently.

Music was also part of Tara’s life from an early age.  She began singing professionally at just seven, performing in operas and competitions.  She later earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media from St. Andrew’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce, proving that her résumé was getting crowded long before the movie roles arrived.

Career Journey

Tara Sutaria began her association with Disney Channel India as a video jockey and went on to star in two of the channel’s successful sitcoms, The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir and Oye Jassie.  Acting, however, was only one part of her résumé.  She has also recorded music in India and abroad for films, advertisements, and her own original projects.

Her musical credits include “Slippin’ Through My Fingers,” featured in Ashwin Gidwani Productions’ Blame It On Yashraj, as well as the lead role of Sandy in Raell Padamsee’s production of the musical Grease.  She has performed solo concerts in London, Tokyo, Lavasa, and Mumbai, worked with musicians Louiz Banks and Mikey McCleary, and spent more than a decade performing as a soloist with the Stop-Gaps Choral Ensemble at the NCPA.  She was also one of the top seven finalists in the singer category of the 2008 Pogo Amazing Kids Awards.  Clearly, the girl had been collecting talents for years.

Her television work earned recognition for her performances as Vinnie in The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir and Jassie in Oye Jassie.  Then came Hollywood.  Sutaria was one of two actresses shortlisted to play Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin (2019), but the role ultimately went to Naomi Scott.  A small plot twist, but Sutaria had her Bollywood debut waiting.

Later that year, she appeared in Punit Malhotra’s coming-of-age film Student of the Year 2, starring alongside Tiger Shroff and Ananya Panday.  Produced by Karan Johar, the film served as a standalone sequel to Student of the Year (2012) and followed a college student competing for his school’s annual championship.

Sutaria’s second film of 2019 was Milap Zaveri’s action drama Marjaavaan, in which she played Zoya, a mute music teacher, opposite Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, and Rakul Preet Singh.  The film earned ₹65.35 crore worldwide.

In 2022, Sutaria reunited with Tiger Shroff for Ahmed Khan’s action film Heropanti 2.  The movie received negative reviews from critics and became a major commercial failure, marking another difficult chapter at the box office.

Looking for a role that would put more emphasis on her acting, Sutaria took the lead in the 2023 crime thriller Apurva.  Released on Disney+ Hotstar, the film received mixed reviews, but gave her the opportunity to step into a much more demanding role.

After a three-year break from films, Sutaria returned in 2026 with Toxic, a Kannada-language action film directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Yash.  The film received a negative critical response, but it also marked Sutaria’s first major step into Kannada cinema.

From Disney sitcoms and musical theatre to Bollywood, Hollywood auditions, and Kannada action films, Sutaria’s career has taken a few unexpected turns.  Apparently, sticking to one lane was never really the plan.

Facts and Trivia

Tara Sutaria has built quite the public profile beyond her film career.  In 2019, she ranked as the eighth most-trending personality on Google in India, proving that people were definitely curious about the new star on the block.  She also appeared on The Times’ 50 Most Desirable Women list, ranking 13th in 2019 and moving up to 12th in 2020.  Apparently, the internet wasn’t the only place keeping tabs on her.

In May 2026, Sutaria was named one of six honorees at the Women in Cinema Gala, hosted by the Red Sea Film Foundation during the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

Away from the spotlight, Sutaria supports causes including animal welfare and feminism.  She has also walked the runway at Lakmé Fashion Week and appeared on the covers of several magazines.  Her brand portfolio includes Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Hazoorilal Legacy Jewellers, and Nature 4 Nature.  For Nature 4 Nature’s advertising film, she appeared alongside fellow actor Ishaan Khatter.

Actress, singer, model, and professional cover girl—apparently, Tara Sutaria still hasn’t found a reason to say no to another résumé entry.
