Emma Chamberlain has that effortless, modern-royalty vibe—you know, the kind of chic person you’d see strolling down a designer-lined street and think, Wow… so people really can look like that. She’s the type who can make you stop in your tracks and momentarily reconsider your entire wardrobe.
As one of YouTube’s most recognizable faces, Emma didn’t just stick to internet fame—she marched straight into the fashion world and became a force. She’s landed groundbreaking partnerships with major luxury brands, proving she can go from relatable coffee-loving creator to high-fashion muse without missing a beat.
Who is Emma Chamberlain
Emma is an American influencer, podcaster, businesswoman, model, and occasional bringer of existential crises (because how is she that productive?). She snagged the 2018 Streamy Award for Breakout Creator, and by 2019, Time magazine had already named her one of the Time 100 Next and one of the 25 Most Influential People on the Internet. They credited her with pioneering a whole new vlogging style that basically rewired YouTube’s unwritten rulebook.
In April 2019, Emma launched her weekly podcast Anything Goes (formerly Stupid Genius), where she talks about… well, anything. The internet loved it so much that she later won “Best Podcaster” at the 12th Shorty Awards.
And because Emma doesn’t do small, she’s also been a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton since 2019 and Cartier since 2022. You know, just casually representing two of the biggest luxury houses on the planet.
Her Early Life
Emma Chamberlain was born on May 22, 2001, in San Bruno, California. She’s an only child, and her parents divorced when she was five, which meant she grew up in a tight little family unit of two.
In a 2018 interview, Emma shared that her family went through financial struggles when she was younger. Her parents relied on commissions from her father’s artwork, and when he became ill and couldn’t paint, things got tough—like “creativity literally pays the bills” tough.
Emma went to Central Middle School in San Carlos and later attended Notre Dame High School in Belmont, an all-girls Catholic prep school. She wasn’t just a student—she was on the cheerleading and track teams and spent five years as a competitive cheerleader with the California Allstars in Livermore, performing with the team known as Senior Pink. Eventually, she left high school during her junior year but still graduated early by passing the California High School Exit Exam. Because of course she did—Emma’s always had a flair for doing things her own way.
Career Journey
Emma Chamberlain didn’t set out to reinvent YouTube—she just started vlogging for fun. But thanks to her signature style (dramatic zooms, perfectly awkward pauses, chaotic text overlays, and unfiltered monologues that felt like FaceTiming a friend), she accidentally created an entirely new genre of internet entertainment. Whether she was planning Coachella outfits, reviewing fast food, or getting her nose pierced, she made everyday life feel oddly cinematic. By 16, she’d dropped out of high school to make YouTube her full-time job—bold, but clearly the right call.
She’d been growing bored of school toward the end of her sophomore year, and after talking it through with her dad, she was encouraged to find a passion outside of textbooks. So on June 14, 2016, she launched her YouTube channel—and found that passion immediately.
Her early videos included chaotic cooking attempts, fashion hauls, car vlogs, and collaborations with other creators. Coffee became one of her unofficial co-stars, as did her self-deprecating humor. Her editing style—zoom-ins, on-screen text, and comedic silences—quickly became her trademark and later, an industry standard.
In June 2018, Emma moved from the Bay Area to Los Angeles on her own. There, she joined forces with James Charles and the Dolan Twins to form the Sister Squad. They appeared in YouTube Rewind 2018 and were nominated for a 2019 Shorty Award as a group. Around the same time, Tana Mongeau invited Emma to be a Featured Creator at Tanacon—aka VidCon’s chaotic cousin—which famously shut down due to overcrowding. Emma’s interview with Tana ended up being the last event before the entire convention was canceled. Iconic.
A month later, she signed with United Talent Agency and her career only accelerated. In 2019, she won Choice Female Web Star at the Teen Choice Awards, hosted Teen Vogue’s Generation Next event during New York Fashion Week (yes, in front of Anna Wintour), and earned a nomination for Social Star at the People’s Choice Awards. She even helped design a line of sunglasses with Crap Eyewear.
The 2019 Streamy Awards brought nominations for Creator of the Year, Editing, and First Person. She also appeared in videos for Target’s YouTube channel, starred in her own Snapchat show Adulting With Emma Chamberlain, and was named one of TIME’s Time 100 Next and 25 Most Influential People on the Internet for completely reshaping modern vlogging.
Emma ended the year with an interview on ABC News Nightline with Adam Rippon, and in 2022, she took on Hot Ones, eating progressively spicier plant-based wings while keeping her composure like a true professional (mostly).
Facts and Trivia
In March 2018, Emma Chamberlain teamed up with the shopping app Dote. By May, they were flying her everywhere—from Austin and Coachella to an influencer-filled trip to Fiji. In July, she even dropped her own Dote clothing line, Low Key / High Key by Emma, proving she could design clothes just as effortlessly as she edits jump cuts.
Then in December 2019, Emma leaned fully into her caffeine obsession and launched Chamberlain Coffee, an online coffee brand that quickly grew from beans-in-a-bag to teas, merch, and cute coffee accessories. And as of January 2025, the brand opened its first physical café at Westfield Century City Mall in Los Angeles—because of course Emma now owns a coffee shop in L.A. It feels right.
Her rise in fashion and pop culture didn’t go unnoticed. Cosmopolitan put her on its February 2020 cover with the headline “The most popular girl in the world.” A few months later, Allure featured her on its June/July cover. Vogue Australia, Nylon, and Variety also spotlighted her that year, with Variety naming her to its “Power of Young Hollywood” list.
Emma also stepped into the world of acting. In 2023, she voiced a reporter in the animated film Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken. By 2025, she was filming the horror movie Forbidden Fruits, starring alongside Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, and Alexandra Shipp—an unexpectedly spooky career move, but we support range.
In 2024, she officially received her high school diploma at age 23, proving it’s never too late to graduate—even if you become a global influencer first.
Her longtime partnership with Cartier also made headlines, especially when she wore the historic Patiala necklace, once belonging to Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. The piece has a complicated colonial history, and many Indian-Americans criticized its reappearance. Neither Emma nor Cartier publicly commented.
On the personal side, Emma began dating singer-songwriter Tucker Pillsbury (aka Role Model) in 2020. They split in 2023 after three years together. She now lives in Beverly Hills, where she practices one of her favorite hobbies: drumming. If you’ve seen her videos, you know she’s surprisingly good at it—and very committed to the vibe.
