Barbie Imperial is the kind of Filipino beauty who can make you forget what you were doing the moment her gallery appears on screen. Consider this your official warning: productivity may not survive the experience.
But there’s more to Imperial than a face that knows exactly how to command attention. She’s also an actress who has already built a strong career in the Philippines, pairing screen presence with the talent to back it up. That combination tends to travel well.
So, while Filipino audiences already know exactly who Barbie Imperial is, the international spotlight may simply be the next stop. Let’s get to know the actress behind the glamour.
Who is Barbie Imperial
Barbie Imperial is a Filipino actress, model, and dancer who has made a name for herself in the Philippine entertainment industry. She is best known for her leading role in the drama series Araw Gabi, a performance that helped cement her status as one of the country’s rising screen talents. Apparently, being photogenic wasn’t going to be enough—she brought acting skills to the résumé, too.
Her Early Life
Barbie Concina Imperial was born on August 1, 1998, in Daraga, Albay. She and her older half-brother, Bryce, were raised by their single mother, Marilyn “Bing” Imperial, in a modest home near the railway tracks. Growing up, Imperial clearly had her sights set high. She excelled in school and graduated as her grade school’s valedictorian, proving that the girl had brains to go with the future star power.
She later added another skill to her résumé by pursuing professional training in culinary arts. Actress, dancer, model, academic achiever—and apparently, someone who could also be trusted with dinner. Not a bad lineup.
Career Journey
Barbie Imperial’s big break came in 2015, when she joined Pinoy Big Brother: 737. She was introduced as “The Doll Along the Riles of Albay,” a nickname inspired by her doll-like features and her upbringing near the railway tracks. Apparently, even reality TV knew a good nickname when it saw one.
After Pinoy Big Brother, Imperial began building her acting résumé with guest appearances on the long-running anthology series Maalaala Mo Kaya. She took on several roles, including Hannah and Glaiza, before eventually portraying herself in the episode “Riles,” which dramatized her own story. Talk about bringing your résumé full circle.
She later became a member of GirlTrends and made regular appearances on the popular noontime variety show It’s Showtime, keeping her firmly in the television spotlight.
In February 2018, Imperial took on a very different challenge when she was cast as the antagonist Rachel San Pedro in Wansapanataym: Gelli in a Bottle. Starring opposite Loisa Andalio and Ronnie Alonte, she played a heartless and cunning classmate who makes Gelli’s life miserable, largely because of her resentment toward her. Villainy, apparently, was another box she was happy to tick.
That same year brought Imperial her biggest career opportunity when she landed a leading role in the television series Araw Gabi, starring as Michelle Verano alongside JM de Guzman. The role helped establish her as a leading actress and gave her career a significant boost.
In 2024, Imperial joined the cast of the hit primetime action series FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, playing Tisay, a singer and gambler whose path crosses with Tanggol, portrayed by Coco Martin. Another new character, another genre, another reason to keep the résumé growing.
From reality television and anthology dramas to villains, leading roles, and primetime action, Imperial has certainly kept her career moving. Apparently, standing still was never really part of the plan.
Facts and Trivia
Barbie Imperial has been expanding her interests beyond acting. In 2024, she enrolled at the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) Manila to pursue professional cooking, adding another skill to an already busy résumé. She has also explored partnerships and investment opportunities in the local food scene, including connections to food concepts inspired by fellow celebrities such as Ara Mina. Apparently, acting wasn’t enough—now there’s a potential chef and entrepreneur in the mix.
Imperial grew up in a broken family and was raised without seeing her father. She is also part of a well-connected entertainment family, as a cousin of siblings Michele, Marco, Kat, and Paolo Gumabao, as well as journalist and television personality Gretchen Fullido.
On January 19, 2026, Imperial confirmed that she is in a relationship with actor Richard Gutierrez. The two had previously worked together on the fantasy drama La Luna Sangre, so apparently, their story had a sequel waiting off-screen.
