Who is Irina Sharapova?
Irina is a Russian fashion and pageant model who is notable for winning Miss Tatarstan 2010 and as the first runner-up in Miss Russia 2010 held in Sanya, China. Since her pageant wins, she has walked the runway for some of the world’s top fashion designers, including Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren, and participated in shows like the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
In 2013, Irina here landed her first magazine cover on Marie Claire.
Irina is currently represented by top international modeling agencies such as Women Management (New York, Paris, Milan), Storm Model Management (London), Traffic Models (Barcelona), and Scoop Models (Copenhagen).
Her Early Life
Irina Sharipova was born on February 7, 1992, in Bukhara, Uzbekistan to an Uzbek father, whom she never met, and a mother of Russian, Ukrainian, and Tatar roots. She moved in with her grandmother in the village of Sviyazhskiy, Apastovsky District, Tatarstan when she was 7 years of age. Her mother, Elena Sharipova, was also a beauty queen and was crowned Miss Bukhara in 1989 and in 1990, became the runner-up of “Miss Uzbekistan”. After her high school, Irina relocated to Kazan to study and specialize in Fashion Desing at the Kazan State Technical University.
Career Journey
Irina entered the national contest for “Miss Tatarstan” by accident. You see, she was only on a shopping trip and stopped to look at the contestants. She was then spotted by the organizers and persuaded her to audition. Having no experience in pageants and modeling, she was surprised to win Miss Tatarstan title on January 31, 2010. In March of the same year, Irina won the title of the first Vice-Miss Russia 2010. The prize was a grant to study at any university in the world. Irina went on to represent Russia in the Miss world 2010.
In 2012, Irinia signed with renowned international modeling agency Women Management. The following year, she began appearing on the pages of fashion magazines as well as gracing the high fashion runways. In September 2014, Irina opened the Dolce & Gabbana 2015 spring/summer collection show on Milan Fashion Week. Since then, Irina has walked for top fashion brands and designers, such as Chanel, Versace, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Nina Ricci, Oscar de la Renta, Dsquared2, Ermanno Scervino, Carolina Herrera, Giorgio Armani, Kenzo, Rag & Bone, Sonia Rykiel, TopShop, Tory Burch, Akris, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, Jeremy Scott, Philipp Plein, Valentin Yudashkin and others. She has also done commercial modeling; posing for catalogs for Victoria’s Secret and appearing in campaign ads for Dolce & Gabbana.
On December 2, 2014, Irina took part (her very first time) in the final show of Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2014 in London. She walked the runway along with another former Miss Russia contestant and model, Kate Grigorieva.
