Who is Linda Evangelista?
Linda is a Canadian fashion model and a top supermodel of the 1990s. She is regarded as one of the most accomplished and influential models of all time, appearing on more than 700 magazine covers. Linda is most known as the longstanding “muse” of photographer Steven Meisel, as well as for coining the term “We don’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day.” She holds the record for the most appearances on the cover of Vogue Italia, all of which were taken by Meisel.

Linda Evangelista was born on May 10, 1965, to a large Italian-Canadian family in St Catherines, a tiny town near Niagara Falls, Canada. As a teenager, Linda began modeling locally in her hometown. Linda married her first husband, Gerald Marie, the boss of Elite Model Agency, in 1987, when she was 22. Linda returned to the United States after their divorce in 1993, where she met Sex And The City star Kyle MacLachlan during a picture assignment. The pair dated for six years before becoming engaged, although they later split up.
Linda began dating French player Fabien Barthez in 1998, shortly after declaring her retirement from modeling. The couple went on to announce their pregnancy, but Linda miscarried at six months. In 2006, the 41-year-old runway star announced she was expecting again, but did not reveal the identity of the child’s father. On October 11, Augustin James Evangelista was born, fulfilling Linda’s most cherished wish. In 2011, it was confirmed that Augustin’s father was Francois-Henri Pinault.
Linda earned one of the highest divorce settlements in history, earning a whopping $46,000 per month from her ex-husband, billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault.
Linda stopped appearing at regular events and on social media in the mid to late 2010s. Then, in 2021, she disclosed that her reclusiveness was the result of a failed cosmetic treatment that she described as “brutally disfiguring”.
