Who is Gretchen Ho
Gretchen is a Filipino broadcaster, TV presenter, and former volleyball player. She played collegiate volleyball for the Ateneo Lady Eagles from 2008 to 2013, where she was part of the “fab five” that led Ateneo to its first back-to-back UAAP finals appearances. She later played professionally with the Petron Blaze Spikers in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) from 2013 to 2015, when she helped the team win the 2014 Grand Prix Conference.
Oh, and FHM named her one of the 100 sexiest women in the country in 2014 and 2015.
Her Early Life
Gretchen was born on April 19, 1990, in Pasig, the Philippines’ National Capital Region. Gretchen graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in communication arts. She was also a varsity athlete in college, representing the Ateneo Lady Eagles volleyball team.
Gretchen decided to work in broadcast journalism after graduating from college. She began her career as an ABS-CBN news reporter before moving on to host numerous of the network’s shows. Gretchen’s well-known shows include “The Score,” “UAAP Magazine,” and “Sports U.” She also worked as a sideline reporter for basketball games in the Philippines.
Her Sports Career
In high school, she competed on the Immaculate Conception Academy-Greenhills varsity volleyball team. She spent five years in college playing for Ateneo de Manila University. Gretchen also played professional volleyball for two years, representing the Petron Trail Blazers in the Philippine Super Liga from 2013 to 2015 and the PSL Beach Volleyball Cup in 2015. She is a co-founder of Beach Volleyball Republic.
Broadcasting Career
Gretchen began working in television after graduating from Ateneo de Manila University with a double degree in BS Management Engineering and AB Communications, as well as a minor in Development Management. She made her debut as one of the hosts of Gameday Weekend, a sports magazine show broadcast on Balls and ABS-CBN Sports+Action. She previously served as an anchor, segment host, and field reporter for several ABS-CBN shows, including Umagang Kay Ganda, TV Patrol, News Patrol, The Score, and University Town.
Gretchen formally transferred to TV5 on January 26, 2021, as part of its downsizing program as a result of the ABS-CBN shutdown by the Philippine Congress, which rejected the new ABS-CBN legislative franchise to operate.
In September 2022, Ho began creating Woman In Action, a travel, documentary, and public service program. She hosts and co-writes the show, which airs on ONE NEWS, ONE PH, and TV 5. Woman In Action earned “Best Public Affairs Program” at the PMAP Makatao Awards in 2023.

Let’s all help uplift each other’s spirits,” Gretchen stated on her website.
