Sasha Calle, an American-Colombian actress, made history as the first Latina to play Supergirl in a live-action movie. Prior to her breakout role in The Flash, she was recognized for her portrayal as Lola Rosales on the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless, for which she received a Daytime Emmy nomination.
Her Early Life
Sasha Calle was born on August 7, 1995, in Boston, Massachusetts. She and her mother relocated to Colombia when she was ten and returned to the United States after two years. Sasha moved from Miami to Los Angeles when she was 17 years old to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2017.
Career Journey
Sasha began her role as chef Lola Rosales on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless in September 2018. She appeared in almost 270 episodes and was nominated for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series at the 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards. She is also slated to star in the drama flick On Swift Horses.

Calle revealed in a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she identifies as queer.
She is the fourth actress to portray the DC Comics character Kara Zor El/Supergirl in a live-action version, following Helen Slater, Laura Vandervoort, and Melissa Benoist.
Fans first compared her Supergirl in The Flash (2023) to DC Comics’ Cir-El. Her first appearance in costume on set in London hinted that her character was modeled on Lara Lane-Kent from the “Injustice” universe. The first official trailer proved Kara’s identity.
