Larissa Manoela is the kind of babe who could easily be mistaken for… I don’t know… A goddess? She’s stunning, glamorous, and, because apparently being gorgeous wasn’t enough, seriously talented too. Her beauty might be enough to inspire a few daydreams, but Larissa has built her career on much more than a pretty face. With plenty of charisma and on-screen talent to match her looks, she knows how to command attention. So, before we get too distracted, let’s get to know this Brazilian star a little better.
Who is Larissa Manoela
Larissa Manoela is a Brazilian actress and singer who has been working since childhood and turned her early start in show business into a major career. One of Brazil’s best-known child and teen stars, she has built a successful résumé across television, film, and streaming, while attracting more than 50 million followers online. Clearly, she figured out social media before the rest of us.
She rose to fame on SBT as Maria Joaquina in Carrossel, the twins Isabela and Manuela in Cúmplices de um Resgate, and Mirela in As Aventuras de Poliana. In 2022, she made her TV Globo debut in Além da Ilusão, portraying sisters Elisa and Isadora at different stages of their lives.
Her Early Life
Born Larissa Manoela Taques Elias Santos on December 28, 2000, Larissa Manoela hails from Guarapuava, in the Brazilian state of Paraná. She is the only child of Silvana Taques, an educator, and Gilberto Elias Santos, a real estate consultant. Her family background is a mix of Italian and Portuguese heritage, with her mother tracing her roots to Veneto, Italy, and her father to Porto, Portugal. So, before Larissa ever stepped in front of a camera, she already had a pretty international family tree.
Career Journey
Larissa Manoela’s career began at just four years old, when a talent scout spotted her in a supermarket in Guarapuava, Paraná. Yes, a supermarket. While most four-year-olds were negotiating for snacks, Larissa was apparently being discovered. She soon began working as a model after being scouted by Projeto Passarela.
By six, after appearing in several commercials, she landed her first television acting role on GNT’s series Mothern. In 2010, she starred as the protagonist of the series Songs of Betrayal, but her major breakthrough came in 2012. That year, she played Viviane in the telenovela Corações Feridos and became widely recognized for her role as Maria Joaquina in the children’s telenovela Carrossel.
In 2013, Larissa starred in the series Patrulha Salvadora. The following year, she took on one of her most memorable roles in Cúmplices de um Resgate, playing twin sisters Isabela and Manuela. Because apparently playing one character wasn’t enough of a challenge.
Larissa expanded her career beyond acting in 2016 with the release of her first book, The Diary of Larissa Manoela. The book was launched on June 6 at a Saraiva bookstore inside a shopping mall in São Paulo. In 2017, she renewed her contract with SBT and joined As Aventuras de Poliana as Mirela, starring alongside João Guilherme Ávila. She also published her second book, The World of Larissa Manoela, and made her first film appearance as a lead. That same year, she bought a mansion in Orlando, Florida. Casual.
Music has also been an important part of Larissa’s career. She has performed in Brazil and even taken her show to the United States. On December 1, 2017, she released her first live studio album, Up! Tour.
Then came Netflix. In 2020, Larissa made her debut in a Netflix film with Airplane Mode, playing a social-media influencer. By then, she had already managed to build a career across television, books, music and film—all before most people have figured out what they actually want to do with their lives.
