Supermodel Sasha Pivovarova Is Prada’s Pride

It has been a while since we featured a fashion model.  Sasha Pivovarova is a fashion icon who is deserving of her international recognition.  Man, she is classy, and I don’t think there is any other way to describe her hotness.

This one doesn’t really need that much of an intro as you just one look, and you are hooked.  So let’s get to know this super classy woman, shall we?  Oh, and some of her classiness will rub off on you.

Who is Sasha Pivovarova

Sasha Pivovarova is a Russian supermodel and artist who somehow manages to dominate both the runway and the canvas—because why settle for one creative lane?

Sasha Pivovarova

She’s best known for her long-standing relationship with Prada, holding the record as their longest-running model with 19 campaigns.  That’s not just loyalty—that’s fashion history.

Since rising to fame in 2005, Sasha has become instantly recognizable for her signature “wide-eyed doll” look, landing an impressive 62 covers of Vogue.  And in between all the high-fashion moments, she’s also a painter—so when she’s not being the muse, she’s creating the art herself.

Her Early Life

Sasha Pivovarova was born on January 21, 1985, in Moscow, Russia, and long before the runway, she was already deep in her first love: art.

She started taking art classes at just six years old (overachiever energy, honestly) and later studied art history at the Russian State University for the Humanities.  Drawing and painting weren’t just hobbies—they were basically part of her daily routine.

A lot of her time was spent at the Pushkin Museum, where she’d sketch classical sculptures like it was her personal studio.  And she didn’t grow out of it either—she kept that habit well into her teenage years.

So while most people were figuring out what they liked, Sasha was already building an artist’s eye—one sketch at a time.

Career Journey

As an art history student, Sasha Pivovarova wasn’t exactly planning a runway takeover.  That changed in 2005, when her friend (and future husband) Igor Vishnyakov took some photos of her and sent them to IMG Models. One submission later…  fashion career unlocked.

Things escalated quickly. That same year, she caught the attention of Miuccia Prada and opened the Fall/Winter 2005 show for Prada—which is basically the modeling equivalent of skipping the line and going straight to VIP.  She also landed the April cover of Vogue Italia, photographed by Steven Meisel.  Not bad for someone who “never planned” to model.

From there, Sasha became the face of Prada for six consecutive seasons and walked a jaw-dropping 69 shows in a single season—because apparently, sleep is optional.

By 2007, she was featured on the cover of Vogue alongside a lineup of top models dubbed the “World’s Next Top Models.”  Spoiler: she absolutely lived up to the title.

Her career highlights kept stacking up—she appeared in the iconic Pirelli Calendar in 2008, won “Best International Model” at Spain’s Marie Claire awards, and became the face of Giorgio Armani in 2009.  She also worked with legendary photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for campaigns alongside Kate Moss—casual company, really.

On the runway, she was everywhere: opening, closing, and dominating shows for brands like Chanel, Christian Dior, Valentino, and Elie Saab. Basically, if it was Fashion Week, Sasha was either opening it, closing it, or stealing it.

By 2009, she ranked among the top models in the world on Models.com, and later earned a spot on their “Industry Icons” list. Vogue Paris even named her one of the top 30 models of the decade—which feels about right.

And just when you think she might slow down—nope.  She continued landing major campaigns for brands like Balenciaga and returned to Prada for their 2016 campaigns alongside Natalia Vodianova.  She also kept racking up Vogue covers, including editions of Vogue China and multiple appearances on Vogue Italia—even as recently as 2021 and 2022.

So yes, what started as a simple set of photos turned into one of the most impressive modeling careers out there.  Not bad for someone who just wanted to study art.

Facts and Trivia

Sasha Pivovarova didn’t just stop at modeling—she brought her art into the spotlight too.  In 2007, a collection of her work (including portraits of Vlada Roslyakova and Snejana Onopka) was exhibited in Paris, followed by another show in New York in 2008.  Not bad for someone juggling runways and sketchbooks at the same time.

Her illustrations have since appeared in pages of Vogue, Vogue Paris, and Teen Vogue—because apparently being in Vogue wasn’t enough, she had to contribute to it too.  She’s even been commissioned by fashion heavyweights like Miuccia Prada and Karl Lagerfeld to create illustrated books. Casual side projects, really.

Sasha Pivovarova

In 2011, Sasha added “actress” to her résumé with her debut in In Time, starring alongside Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried.  She played Clara—a character who’s 130 years old, which is funny considering Sasha herself seems to age in reverse.

On the personal side, she’s married to photographer Igor Vishnyakov.  The two tied the knot in Thailand and later recreated their wedding for a Vogue shoot (because of course they did), surrounded by friends like Jessica Stam and Irina Kulikova.  Together, they have two daughters—so yes, it’s a full-on creative household.

Her Body Measurements

Sasha stands 5 feet, 9 inches and she possesses a 32.5-23.5-33 slim figure.
