Our Timeless Tuesday Feature Is Diana Zubiri From The Philippines

Back in the early 2000s, this babe was a superstar of R-rated movies in the Philippines.  She was incredibly hot then and was a fantasy to many.  But what is surprising is, after more than a couple of decades and after transitioning into a content creator, she became hotter.  Like being a mom turned this already gorgeous coal into a diamond.

Now, we’re going to bask in what this Diana Zubiri has to offer.  Are you ready for some heat?

Who is Diana Zubiri

Diana Zubiri has come a long way since her early days in the spotlight.  She first caught attention in the early 2000s with a string of daring films under Seiko Films, but it was her turn as the fierce warrior Danaya in the hit fantasy series Encantadia that cemented her place in pop culture.  The role made her a household name and showcased her ability to take on characters that were as powerful as they were memorable.

Zubiri later proved her depth as an actress with Bahay Bata, earning praise from critics and a Young Critics Circle Award for her performance.  Over the years, she’s seamlessly transitioned from erotic beginnings to respected roles in mainstream television dramas, working with several networks before returning to GMA in 2016.  Today, she continues to thrive in an industry (social media included) that has watched her evolve, grow, and redefine herself time and again.

Her Early Life

Born Rosemarie Joy Garcia on April 15, 1985, in Bulacan, Diana Zubiri grew up facing challenges that shaped her resilience early on.  When she was just six or seven, her father left the family, leaving her mother to raise the children on her own in Olongapo, where she ran a small sari-sari store to make ends meet.  Later, the family moved to Fairview, Quezon City, renting a modest home that became the backdrop of Diana’s childhood.

Despite the hardships, Diana pursued her education with determination.  In the early 2010s, she completed a degree in Theater Arts at Miriam College, laying the foundation for the acting career that would eventually make her a household name.

Career Journey

Diana Zubiri’s rise in showbiz started early.  At just 15, she was discovered by Seiko Films and quickly became known for her daring roles—and even more so for her headline-making FHM Philippines photoshoot in 2002, where she posed in a bikini atop the EDSA–Shaw flyover.  The controversy that followed only amplified her visibility, turning her into one of the most talked-about young stars of the time.

But Diana proved she was more than just a bold newcomer.  By 2003, she was hosting on Eat Bulaga! and bringing laughs on Bubble Gang.  Then came her breakout moment in 2005 with Encantadia, where she embodied Danaya, the warrior diwata beloved by fans.  From there, she seamlessly transitioned into mainstream acting, taking on action, comedy, and drama roles while leaving adult-themed projects behind.

Her versatility paid off.  In 2012, she earned the Young Critics Circle’s Best Performer Award for her role in the indie drama Bahay Bata, a performance that also gained international recognition at the Deauville Asian Film Festival.  She continued to shine in primetime dramas for both ABS-CBN and GMA, including Asian Treasures, Juan dela Cruz, and the 2016 Encantadia reboot—this time as a formidable antagonist.

After a short break from television, Diana made her comeback in 2025 with the drama series Mga Batang Riles, once again proving her staying power.  From bold beginnings to award-winning turns, her career is a testament to reinvention, resilience, and an enduring place in Philippine entertainment.

Facts and Trivia

Diana Zubiri shot to instant fame in October 2002 thanks to one unforgettable stunt: posing in nothing but a bikini on the EDSA–Shaw flyover for FHM Philippines.  The photos turned heads, sparked headlines, and even landed her in hot water with then-Mandaluyong mayor Benhur Abalos, who filed charges against her and the magazine (the case was eventually dropped after an apology, but not before cementing the shoot as one of the most iconic—and controversial—moments in local pop culture).

Of course, that legendary EDSA moment still follows her.  In fact, Diana once sold the actual bikini from that shoot to Boss Toyo (a.k.a. Jayson Luzadas) for $400—or about ₱23,417.  Proof that some souvenirs only get more valuable with time—and controversy.
