Softcore Porn Flicks You Should Watch Over The Weekend

And since we have given you a list of erotic films just last Halloween, why not do a part 2?  This time, it’s more on the softcore side.  Mainstream, kind of but will really turn you on like you’re a pizza oven on a midsummer’s day.

We do hope you have the time to binge-watch these films as they are going to be worth your time.  So are you ready for some crotch-heating flicks?  Of course, you are.  So let’s get it on.

The First Turn-On! (1983)

If you’re searching for some softcore sexiness with a bit more fun and humor, check out 1983’s The First Turn-On! a go.  The film follows a group of campers (and their mandatory counselor escort) who become trapped in a cave following a landslide and decide to pass the time by telling stories about their first experiences.

The First Turn-On! is considered by fans to be the best of Troma Entertainment’s “sexy comedies”.

Bikini Jones and the Temple of Eros (2010)

If you enjoy your softcore jollies with a heavy dose of camp, 2010’s Bikini Jones and the Temple of Eros (shown here with its foreign release DVD cover because the art is far superior to the English cover art) is for you.  The plot revolves around Dr. Bikini Jones (Christine Nguyen), an archaeologist in the tradition of Indiana Jones, who steals a golden idol that also serves as the key to the Temple of Eros.

Bikini Jones competes with her arch-rival, the suitably called Evilla Cruella, for ownership of a magical Tiara that elevates the bearer to the position of supreme ruler in Moronica. Seriously.

Embrace of the Vampire (1995)

Dude, our ultimate crush on Charmed is the star in this mid-90s flick.  Yup, Alyssa Milano here is as fresh as the avocados your mom just brought in. She’s a college co-ed in this vampire movie.  A little Twilight-y but Alyssa Milano, man!!!

About her daring and nude scenes in this one, Alyssa Milano, in a 1995 interview said she learned a lot from shooting the film as far as knowing where the camera should go and what coverage they need so as not to make a scene too explicit.

Animal Instincts (1992)

This one is just thrilling.  A cop, to spice up his marriage, makes his wife sleep with other people and he films it.  But there’s more to the plot than just swinging and voyeurism.  The couple went into trouble with a mobster and… Just watch it if you haven’t.  The sex scenes are more awesome than the already awesome plot.

The cast features David Carradine, Shannon Whirry, Jan-Michael Vincent, and Maxwell Caulfield.  This 90s hit produced two sequels: Animal Instincts 2 (1994), also starring Whirry, and Animal Instincts 3 (also known as Animal Instincts: The Seductress).

Angels of Sex (2012)

This Spanish film is about a group of gorgeous coeds who got really hot with each other and in the process learned a few about growing up.  Yup, it’s a coming-of-age film with lots of steamy scenes (scenes that you won’t easily forget).

This film navigates bisexuality, torn affections, and open relationships…  Yup, it explores the cast’s polyamorous bisexual relationship and love triangle.

A Perfect Ending (2012)

A Perfect Ending, starring mainstream talent such as Morgan Fairchild and John Heard, is one of those movies that checks the boxes for both “sexy AF softcore porn” and “actual movie with story and plot.”

The film follows Rebecca, a housewife in an unhappy and unfulfilling marriage, who confides in two lesbian friends that she has never had an orgasm.  At their suggestion, she hires a high-end escort named Paris to help her discover—and control—her sexuality.

Erika’s Hot Summer (1972)

Nothing better captures the essence of softcore porn than the ’70s. Erika’s Hot Summer is as classic ’70s softcore as it gets.  The film’s narrative revolves around a photographer who travels the world and has sex with an endless supply of gorgeous women.  That is until he meets the title character.

When he has a fling with Erika, the other women in his life become boring, and he experiences a playboy dilemma.

Room in Rome (2010)

The 2010 Spanish drama follows two women who meet as strangers and spend a romantic night together, all while exchanging intimate details about their tragic pasts.  The plot is partially based on another film called In Bed.

This one was almost entirely shot on a sound stage in Madrid, Spain, as a hotel room.

Two Moon Junction (1988)

If you enjoy a good dose of ’80s fun in your softcore viewing, Two Moon Junction is an absolute must-see.

The movie follows April Delongpre, a 21-year-old Southern belle (and senator’s daughter) who has been pushed into an engagement to a guy named Chad Douglas Fairchild, who is exactly as Chad Douglas Fairchild-like as the name implies.  April eventually falls for the least Chad Douglas Fairchild-like guy in town, Perry, a carnival worker and vagabond. Sexiness ensues.

Love Camp (1981)

Love Camp (also known as Die Todesgöttin des Liebescamps) is a 1981 West German softcore rock musical that is everything you never imagined a pornographic film to be.

The film, starring sex symbol Laura Gemser, is about free love and sexual emancipation.

The Key (2014)

This heart-breaking erotic is based loosely on the 1956 Japanese novel of the same name.  The movie stars David Arquette and Bai Ling. It is about a couple whose sexual life is told through their journals.

This film was released in the US in November 2014 and a DVD release followed a year after.

Touch Me Not (2018)

If you’re looking for one of the more current options in the softcore category, 2018’s Touch Me Not is an excellent choice.  The film is both a documentary and part fiction, following a filmmaker (Adina Pintilie) as she interacts with a collection of characters for a personal research project on intimacy.

The film was exhibited during the 68th Berlin International Film Festival and it won the Golden Bear Award.

Red Shoe Diaries (1992 – 1997)

No softcore porn is more classic than Red Shoe Diaries, a Showtime series about diverse women’s sexual experiences narrated by none other than X-Files star David Duchovny.  The episodes are equally humorous, iconic, and seductive.  The plots mainly revolve around love intrigue and a woman’s sexual awakening, which she frequently recounts.

The majority of episodes feature sensual love scenes with nudity and sensuous, melancholy music.  Aside from Jake Winters introducing each episode, there is no story arc or characters that connect the various stories.

Emillienne (1975)

1975’s Emilienne is a French erotic film about a triangle.  Long story short: A female artist is having an affair with a married man.  He won’t leave his wife, so she decides to meet her.  However, she ends up liking and seducing the introverted wife, so they enter a ménage à trois…

The wife then explores her lesbian side.  What could be better than that?

Man of My Dreams (2008)

This film, which won the “Most Sensual Softcore” award at the Feminist Porn Awards. Highly recommended for all the smart, seductive women and couples that understand that mystery rules and the sexiest, most suggestive scenes can be found in what you don’t see.  The scenes include nudity, but no close-ups of penetration or genitalia.  No ejaculation shots.

Man of My Dreams is the winner of “Most Sensual Softcore” and the Golden Beaver Award for Canadian Content!

Eyes of Desire (1998)

Nothing beats some late-90s softcore porn, right?  Eyes of Desire follows a photographer who explores some casual sexual taboos while staying in a “hillside mansion.”

She realizes that the residence is fitted with a powerful telescope.  She also discovers two other things: she has a voyeuristic side that she was unaware of and that someone is watching her behaviors as well as those of others.  Oooh, hot and creepy,

The Pleasure Professionals (2013)

JoyBear, a sex-positive erotic film studio, gifted everyone The Pleasure Professionals in 2013, and it was so amazing that it won the Feminist Porn Awards for Most Sensual Softcore Movie.

The story revolves around “Executive Relief Consultants,” which, as you might expect, is a specialized service for businessmen and ladies who want to better their sexual relationships.

Eros (2004)

Eros isn’t *necessarily* a softcore film, but there is plenty of softcore sex.  This 2004 anthology film is made up of three short segments: The Hand, directed by Wong Kar-wai in Mandarin, Equilibrium by Steven Soderbergh in English, and The Dangerous Thread of Things by Michelangelo Antonioni in Italian.

Each segment explores the themes of love and sex.

Christine’s Secret (1986)

In the 1980s, former adult film star Candida Royalle resolved to redefine the pornographic game and founded Femme Productions, a firm dedicated to producing sexy films from a woman’s perspective.  Christine’s Secret, which debuted in 1986, is a Femme Productions classic.

Plot: Christine visits her friend’s rustic inn, seeking to find sexual fulfillment among the gorgeous surroundings and other guests.

Aphrodite (1982)

Aphrodite (also known as ‘AphrOdite’) is a 1982 French-Swiss film based on Pierre Louÿs’ novel, Aphrodite: Moeurs Antiques.  The concept is simple: a bunch of folks visit an island and participate in a variety of sensual activities.  Oh yes!

In 1985, the film was released in France on VHS (that’s right, not DVD).

Bikini Drive-in (1995)

Another campy B-movie on the list is 1995’s Bikini Drive-in, which has a highly cheesy premise, so be prepared.

Plot: A young woman inherits her grandfather’s drive-in movie theater with a $25,000 bank debt.  Solution?  She hires a bunch of pals to wear bikinis—and sometimes much less—to attract customers in order to raise funds over the course of one weekend.

Adore (2013)

This 2013 “What Could Go Wrong” depicts the narrative of two middle-aged women who have been friends for their whole lives.  And what happened?  They have steamy sex with each other’s teenage kids.  Apart from the awesome scenes, this film delves with the emotional ramifications of their continuous relationships.

And it stars the beautiful Naomi Watts and Robin Wright.

Don’t Look Now (1973)

This 1973 thriller is based on a short tale by Rebecca author Daphne du Maurier, about a married couple who have moved to Venice to grieve the recent death of their daughter.  This film sparked some controversy before its release due to the inclusion of one of the most violent sex sequences for a mainstream film at the time, earning it an X rating in the UK.

This masterpiece stars Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie.

The ‘Emmanuelle’ Series

The Emmanuelle movies are a series of French softcore pornographic films about a lady who aspires to improve her sex life.  The original (also known as Emmanuelle), which debuted in 1974, was the first X-rated film released in the United States (thanks to Columbia Pictures).  It is worth noting that.

There’s a lot of ambiguity in this series, as there is in many films from the 1970s, which has sparked a lot of feminist debate about whether Emmanuelle is a victim being used or a woman accepting her sexuality.

Now, should we make a part 3? Yep, I really think we should.
