Ladies And Gentlemen, Here’s The New Rogue… Inde Navarrette

Inde Navarrette is having a serious moment right now.  The young actress has just been cast as the super-hot mutant Rogue, so naturally, everyone suddenly wants to know more about her.  But her career didn’t begin with a ticket to the MCU.  Inde had already been making a name for herself long before the superhero spotlight came calling.

And yes, she also happens to be one of the most striking young actresses on the scene today.  Talent, looks, and a Marvel role?  Someone clearly got the good-career starter pack.  So, let’s get to know Inde Navarrette a little better.

Who is Inde Navarrette

Inde Navarrette is an American actress who got her start as a teenager, appearing in short films before moving into bigger roles.  She landed parts in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why in 2020 and The CW’s superhero drama Superman & Lois from 2021 to 2024, steadily building her résumé along the way.

Her major breakthrough came in 2025, when she starred as Nikki Freeman in the supernatural horror film Obsession.  The performance earned her critical acclaim and put her firmly on the radar.  Now she’s heading into even bigger territory, having been cast as Rogue in the untitled X-Men film scheduled for 2028. Not a bad next step.

Her Early Life

Danielle Fabiola Navarrette was born on March 3, 2001, in Tucson, Arizona.  Her father, who is Mexican and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and her mother, Tossi Fox, an Australian hairstylist, gave her a wonderfully mixed family background.  She has four siblings: an older brother, two younger brothers, and a younger sister.

Because of her father’s military service, the family moved frequently.  By the time Inde was 15, she had attended an astonishing 11 schools.  At that point, changing schools was practically a recurring event.  After her parents separated, she was raised primarily in Visalia, California, briefly attending Mt. Whitney High School before moving to the Los Angeles area and enrolling at Redondo Union High School.

Inde credits both sides of her family for sparking her interest in acting.  Her maternal relatives regularly watched the Academy Awards, while her Mexican relatives on her father’s side introduced her to horror movies at a young age.  So, between award-season glamour and scary movies, the career path was perhaps hiding in plain sight.

Her mother also gave her the nickname “Inde,” inspired by her independent nature as a child.  Apparently, she was already living up to the name long before Hollywood came calling.

Career Journey

Inde Navarrette made her acting debut in 2019 in the Snapchat original sitcom Denton’s Death Date, where she played Veronica.  A year later, she joined the fourth season of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why as Estela de la Cruz, giving her career another useful push into the spotlight.

In 2021, Navarrette signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and landed her first major starring role later that year as Sarah Cortez in The CW’s Superman & Lois.  She stayed with the series through its third season, but in June 2023, it was announced that she and six other cast members would leave ahead of the fourth and final season as the show faced budget cuts.  Navarrette still returned for a handful of smaller appearances in the final season.  Hollywood giveth, Hollywood cutteth the budget.

In 2025, she appeared as Teresa Flores in the action film Trap House.  But her biggest career turning point was still ahead.

Navarrette starred as Nikki Freeman in the supernatural horror film Obsession, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2025, before receiving a U.S. theatrical release through Focus Features on May 15, 2026.  Her performance drew widespread critical acclaim, with reviewers praising both her emotional vulnerability and physical intensity.

Louis Peitzman of Vulture singled out Navarrette’s performance as a standout, particularly given that it marked her first major horror role.  Katie Rife of RogerEbert.com praised the emotional depth she brought to Nikki, arguing that her more vulnerable moments revealed the humanity behind the character’s violent behavior.  Variety critic Guy Lodge went even further, praising Navarrette for handling one of the genre’s most physically and emotionally demanding leading roles in recent memory.  His colleague Clayton Davis even named her as a potential Academy Award contender for Best Actress.

Film critic Bill Bria compared Nikki’s impact to iconic horror performances in films such as The Exorcist and Carrie.  Following the film’s success, Navarrette said she was glad Obsession remained a standalone story, while also making it clear that she was interested in exploring more horror roles.  Honestly, after that reception, horror would be wise to keep her number.

After Obsession premiered at TIFF but before its nationwide theatrical release, Navarrette filmed another leading horror role in Invertigo.  Then came the summer of 2026, when she had the chance to meet director Michael Mann and audition for Heat 2.  She ultimately didn’t land the role, but another opportunity soon made up for it.

Around the same time, Navarrette met with director Jake Schreier and expressed interest in playing Mystique.  The result was considerably more exciting: she was cast as Rogue in an untitled X-Men reboot planned for release in 2028.  From horror films to mutants, the career trajectory is getting increasingly difficult to call predictable.

She also appeared in a music video for singer Sombr and featured alongside American musician Malcolm Todd in a Gap commercial.  On top of all that, Navarrette signed on to star in The Waffle House Index, a science-fiction thriller being produced and released by Apple Studios.  She will also serve as an executive producer on the film.

For an actress who began with a Snapchat sitcom, Navarrette has certainly escalated things quickly.  One minute it’s a streaming comedy, the next it’s acclaimed horror, mutant superheroes and producing credits.  Apparently, “take it one role at a time” was never really the plan.

Facts and Trivia

Inde Navarrette is bisexual and has plenty of interests outside acting.  She’s an avid gamer who previously live-streamed games such as Call of Duty on Twitch and YouTube under the username “Inde_navarrette.”  She even built her own gaming PC, because apparently waiting for someone else to put one together was never an option.
